Our Community / There can be an XW or XH, but never ex-children
« Latest by MadLuv on Today at 07:12:52 PM »
Thank you Faithwalker. I am doing surprising well.

Little update on my story. My XH who lost his 33 year career after marrying his opportunist subordinate just was let go of his second job. He is supporting his wife( of 5 years this month ) and both her adult daughters and her grandson. He was let go the week I had my stroke. Talk about crazy!!!

He has 2 homes he is financing and supporting. It was what would have been our 35th wedding anniversary first week of July and the day after I get on facebook to thank all the well wishers and who comes up as my number one suggested friend ? He did!! The man who has never been on social media and hated it. I sent it to my daughter and she said, yes he came up in January around my birthday for me. She said he made the page in January. He has 2 friends. Both hourly employee who worked for him with his long term career. His wife and step daughters, his mom or brothers are not his friends according to my daughter. I “X” on him but I am
not blocking him as that would probably make him feel it bothered me. I will not give him that.

He is looking back at his life. They always do!! He truly has destroyed himself and although I see things very differently now and feel like he is a different person I still crazily feel I even know that person. His covert avoidant personality explains pretty much how he got where he is. He attached to users by his own choice and he will probably never grow due to that. It takes accountability. I am sure he hoped my kids would see him and do the hard work for him, but they are not.

I hope he does find a way to make it right for them, but I do not think he has the courage. I need to catch up with so many threads on here. One of these days. Wishing everyone the strength to carry on and the hope to see their future ahead!

Oh, I bought a boat and my kids and grandkids are going to take it out this weekend!! Finally making really good memories. It’s the only way to move forward and it does ease the losses!!

Update

So, I just saw a picture of my ex with another young woman from my home country. I‘m emphasizing this because when he BDed me, he told me the reason why the marriage failed was because we had two different cultures. So much about culture, now he‘s unto the next girlfriend who comes from where I come from. That‘s after I guess he broke up with the sporty one and from his pattern I guess he cheated on that one with this new girl. And the journey continues. To be honest, I don‘t think the case with my ex was just Mlc, I am almost convinced he‘s just a habitual cheater and a liar. And as painful and horrifying what I experienced in 2019, in hindsight I‘m glad I‘m out of that marriage. I think it was hard for me to process it because I saw him they way I wanted to see him and turned a blind eye on how he actually mentally and emotionally abused me. I am glad I am out of that toxic dynamic. That doesn‘t mean I don‘t love my xh, I think I still do because after all we also shared some good moments. But now I can safely say , even if I‘m not in a relationship, I will never come back to that person again. I firmly closed that door because I realized, this person is nor capable of a lasting relationship and of being a loyal and respectful partner. He will always be seeking for validation from another woman and he will always be seeking for novelty and the adrenaline it gives him. And for those who are new in this please focus on your life and what is front of you. Build yourself and do not waste your time waiting for a big return. If they return and you are willing to accept, then it‘s a double win for you as you have become a better person and you have your partner back. If they don‘t, you still win because you have become a better version of yourself. Keep taking that step forward in front of you even if it‘s scary. You will have a different satisfaction of yourself once you find your authentic self again detached from the MLC monkey show.  I wish everyone here a true healing and a peaceful life away from the MLC $h!teshow. It’s my 7th year now since MLC and I feel that the distance between me and my ex has reached a point of no return. No more hopes, no more longing. I still remember good and fun memories but I don’t wish to be back with him anymore and I don’t hate him anymore. I finally opened my eyes and see him for what he truly is and I don’t want such person in my life.

Journaling:

We still continue to go down this path. Texting about every 2 weeks, always seems to be something to talk about. I continue with polite responses, empathy and understanding but keeping the boundary of not helping with anything unless it affects the kids. The kids are at camp for the summer so it’s just her in the house, it’s times like these that I’m glad Baxter is here to keep me company.

Recently I’ve been reflecting on myself and my relationships and I’m fixing blind spots that I didn’t see at the time. Learning about love languages and attachment styles is really helping me to become a better person. Not sure who I’ll end up with but I feel I’ll be a better version of who I was.

Totally forgot how fun it is to journal here ::)

Anyway, living with live-in is weird. She had a 5 day shopping spree (from dust till dawn stores), and all was happy-happy-joy--joy. Even I seemed magically happier  to her eyes when I briefly saw her hitting the bed  :o now that dopamine high is over, she is having a very bad dopamine hangover. Last night she had a massive rant that continued this morning.

Possibly funniest part of her rant was when she said I too must (not should, but MUST) have a therapist, and learn/change mybways - as she does not want to be only one with flaws and quirks. I admitted having  my own flaws, and reminded that I had 18 months of therapy prior to meeting her, and in total i have spent 7 years self-learning behaviour and psychology - and I am currently very able of dealing with my own emotions. That though I do feel anxiety, loneliness etc same way as her, I express and process them differently.

And I already have a therapist that i see now and then.
What I left out is that i dont see my therapist for advice, but as safe place where I can unload all the emotions I cannot unload to her.

Not sure, but I feel she is very hard trying to get me explode or react, so she could run off without guilt. But as she gets just calm out of me, she is wearing her energy out slowly but surely.

So weird is this process.

And healing means different things for each of  us, I think; I also think it's a process -- I never woke up one day and thought "that's, I'm done, I'm healed".  What I think happens is that the rest of life gets bigger, and the bit that hurts seems smaller in comparison.

You might be spot on here. I recently saw Tony Robbins speaking about this.

Help, I wanted to respond to you.

The healing is slow, I've found as well.  Very slow, much slower than I thought it might be.  Way back when someone wise told me to put away the calendar, that it takes as long as it takes.  There are some who say that we can speed it along by doing certain things, I don't actually believe that.  I suppose we can hinder it, but on the whole I think we all do the best we can at any one point in time.

And healing means different things for each of  us, I think; I also think it's a process -- I never woke up one day and thought "that's, I'm done, I'm healed".  What I think happens is that the rest of life gets bigger, and the bit that hurts seems smaller in comparison.

Dear fellow LBC,

Over four years in. How strange this life is. And how long it takes to finally drop the rope. I would never have believed that someone I loved so much could become so distant and do what she has. It is an odd way to exist.

Healing is quite slow. People tell me you are a nice man. You should not be alone. But the hurt is so deep and focussing on my children is really where I am. I am a much better person than I was but I do wish it did not take what it did. Not that I was particularly bad before but I just have a greater understanding of humans. I move slower, I am kinder and I understand the impact of words much more.

I have found new employment. It is my third act. I am reframing it as an opportunity but starting a new in your early 50’s is challenging. But I can do it.

I have asked my wife a few times for the divorce application. She has indicated it has been prepared for some years but it does not arrive. I will ask again in a few weeks. It does feel like a final abuse that the divorce she wants she will not apply for. I have paid for everything else and I would be grateful if she would do it.

But I also know that I may have to do it myself and I will if I need to.

I have developed cataracts in my eyes. I did not know that 50 percent of people get them in their 50s. I am looking forward to them being fixed.

Things with my daughters are going very well. I feel blessed I am a much improved father. I don’t quite understand why we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in Court for my wife to agree to what was proposed before we went to Court. There has been so much unnecessary damage.

This board is quieter now. I hope this means that people confusing the isolation of the pandemic for the destruction of their self may have reduced. There has been so much cost.

Hang in there,

Thanks JB. I'll hang in here 😂

Today witnessed teenager "dopamine hunting" behaviour. I went out shopping personal items and groceries, and told I will be back in 2 hours to make family dinner. In meantime CW had run off with one of my girsl for fun & fast food at Target, and left my son at home alone.

So, um and sigh, just like having an extra teenager.

All in all understanding the "why" (teenager behaviour = dopamine rush) makes it easier to understand.

Hi, Nas!

Glad I could help :) and I hope you're doing well. I stayed at the Historic Taos Inn; I've wanted to stay there since I saw a photo of their neon sign on a snowy night. Now I just need a car that can get there in winter.

(Not this specific photo, but you get the idea: https://i.pinimg.com/736x/52/77/0b/52770b032de0261dec0475be9ab4eb40.jpg)

I absolutely love Taos, it holds some of my fondest memories from many many years ago. I’m glad you posted, it made me think about my past trips there. ☀️
