This is to send good thoughts to all my fellow east coast LBS dealing with Hurricane Irene. Hope you all stay safe and sound. I am sad tonight as I think of going through this alone, without my H (or any sign of concern from him). But I am safe and will be ok. Sending hugs to you all!

Yes Bird... stay safe prayers for you and and for all our friends in the path of this storm. I have friends in Boston and NJ and North Carolina that I am praying for.
-
Shout out from New York still safe... :) Thanks for caring ;D
-
Hard rain here in Philly area..... hope FTT is ok.... she's got her dogs, thank goodness... let us know, FTT!!
-
I am HOPING that this is more Hype than reality.
But we shall see.
Looks like we will have a lot of flooding but we will see how high the wind gets here.
Right now it sounds like the winds are on a little decline.
I am 60 miles north of NYC so I should not have a problem.
But they have been talking about Asbury Park NJ so I hope Learning is OK.
-
FTT checking in. I´m good to go- gutters cleaned, pool siphoned, pond drain pipes cleared, attic windows shut. Kerosene lantern ready as well as candles and flashlight. Might just got to bed and sleep through it. My big worry is that the wussy canines will pee in the house rather than go outside. Nothing like the odor of dog pee on wool carpeting:)
Pray we keep our power on!
-
Even though....I am way over here in Cali...
I wanted to send out my prayers to all of you that may be in harms way!! As my dad would say
when we lived in Arkansas.."Time to buckle down and hang on tight" (preparing for a tornado)
Many hugs!!

Hope everyone stays safe through the hurricane.....hope it doesn't bring as much destruction that our mlcers appear to leave behind when the volcano within erupts...destroying everything in their path.......prayers to everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I'm so glad that you started this Birdhouse. I've been concerned for everybody. I am happy to hear everyone is safe and sound so far. :)
Keep us posted as you can.

Sending prayers. Stay safe!

Ok quick update.
Off is heading to her basement because there is supposed to be a tornado coming through. I pray that her and the girls will be ok.
Learning is at home and seems to be ok presently.
Gotta is home taking inventory of her duct tape.
She told me that there are lots of different patterns now so we will need to do a field trip to see what designs we can collect :)
Sassy is heading to bed if I read the text right-it said "Good teddy for bed " If she is drinking she ought to be sharing :)
Mama hasn't responded to my text yet. She might be busy thinking of some new MLC directive for us to try
of course I am ok if I am still hanging around here :)

Sending love and prayers to you all from the southern hemisphere - Keep safe XX

Hi everyone, sending prayers and hugs to everyone dealing with Irene tonight. I am watching the weather channel right now. Know you are not alone. I know everyone on this site is here for each other.
-
We are good..... satellite is still on, so that's good..... MLCer partied too hard due to hurricane excitement..... contacted OW out of concern, or in response to, IDK, whatever... stupid skank.... now he's passed out in the MB with his socks on "just taking a nap".... totally asked permission first.....
I'm sneaking on here, what with him being out like a light.... soon to get in bet to snuggle with his hot mess of a self.... kids watching "Gulliver's Travels" with Jack Black..... all laundry and dishes and cooking done in case we lose power....
I think tomorrow is our big day...... everything prepared as best we can...... only two people have my cell phone number... that's FTT and Mamma...... no one needs to check on me, BUT, if I get random texts, it will drive my husband CRAZY!!!! ;)
Will sneak on the forum as much as possible.... can read from my phone, but replying from the phone is out of the question..... stay safe everyone!! ((hugs)) LG

Offmyrocker just had 2 tornadoes go thru her town in southern NJ, she's an hour away from me so I am keeping my fingers crossed that we don't get one. Thanks for starting the thread of concern for us.
-

-
Good,
I have my priorities straight. I have my duck tape and I have my chocolate. :) I wish that I could send you some. Next time you'll be better prepared. ;) So will I, believe me :(
Praying for OMR, and everyone else.

Stay safe, and you are all in my prayers!
I've done earthquakes, tornadoes, typhoons and hurricanes and it's not a good feeling the waiting and wondering. I sympathize with all of you.
Take a xanax or have a drink, just keep breathing everyone, this too shall pass.
-
Take care of yourself Birdy.
All is well here in central North Carolina. We just had a little wind and rain.
I will be praying for those of you in the mid-atlantic and northeast. This stuff is no fun, especially if you lose power.
Take care all,
H4T
-
Tsunami as a pharmacist I must say if you take a xanax and have a drink you may have trouble breathing :D
-
Be safe everyone, from your friendly neighborhood Kentuckian. I hope Off is OK and that the rest of you come through unscathed. Just think, Irene can't possibly do more damage than the tornadoes we deal with daily. Prayers for you all!!
-
Btw, are some of you able to call internationally without extra fees? I have AT & T and am not sure if I can make or receive without penalties.
-
Tsunami as a pharmacist I must say if you take a xanax and have a drink you may have trouble breathing
Mamma, I don't drink, but I take xanax. I have still have trouble breathing, especially during seizures, can't seem to make it stop on my own. It's like an out of body experience. Similar to this MLC crap, you just can't make it stop on your own, and it won't go away.
I was just giving options for those in the storm, more than we have in this MLC madness.
-
When I did drink Mama, I got pregnant both times.
I highly recommend xanax for the "BIG O" though. As Edith Bunker use to sing..."Those were the days." I bet she screamed "Oh Archie" a couple of times.
-
Oh, my!! :-[
-
This is the hurricane thread correct? LOL Late night antics roll on. And our MLCers are either having insomnia and stress or just passed out tired from drinking all day and running from their issues and demons. :)
-
Mother Nature has a sense of humor! I have power and was thinking Yippee, I can flush. BUTTTT, the septic tank is SO full that I can´t.
I will be living dry for a day or so til it seeps into the saturated ground. Great.
Good thing I´ve got leftovers in the fridge.
I will scout around to see what Irene has done with the place.
Stay safe and remember, water and electricity don´t mix.
-
Ok here in Maryland . Winds at 35mph and rainy is heavy. Power keeps going on and off. Otherwise all is well . Just praying that everyone else is alright. Text with Off at 515 am she was ok just going to get some sleep because she had been up all night.
-
Went out into the driveway and two rather large branches had fallen off the tree that I normally park under. Thankfully my car was not there. I´ll be chain sawing later today or tomorrow. Good thing this LBS has learned that skill.
-
Reporting from northcentral MA. Around 7:30am the heavier rain started as well as gusts. Not too bad. Only moderate for both at this time. We have power, and AC, thankfully. HHH weather! UGH! :( Looks like the eye of the storm is staying to the west. BeStar
-
I was wondering if this storm would live up to the hype... stay safe!
FTT, I'm glad you weren't IN your car!!!
-
I'm in NY metro area. Still have power. Heavy rain and wind all night. We are supposed to have the worst of it in next few hours but seems calmer right now. I have my chocolate as well!
Hugs to all,
Birdy
-
Thanks, Hope. My friend in Charlotte said yesterday was sunny! I made it through the night. Should calm down a bit by this afternoon.
Take care,
Birdy
-
Ok in my neighborhood. Some minor branches in the yard, a TON of leaves in the pool, we still have electric, all the cars are safe. The worst looks like it passed. FTT, I'm only an hour away and have 3 bathrooms if you need to flush.
-
I´m at Micky D´s. The power went out AFTER the rain passed. I thought I was in the clear. Good thing I finished cooking lunch minutes before the fizzle. Don´t forget to unplug your expensive stuff as the surge from restored power can fry things. And don´t do what I did to the last modem - it wasn´t plugged into a surge protector.
I picked up a bunch of sticks and then thought the better of it with all the gusts and old trees.
Stay safe,
FTT

Good to see everyone checking in.
Take care all.

wishing all of you safety through this hurricane (as well as through the other hurricane you survive on a daily basis.

Oh thank goodness Irene is on her way out of here. We got 7.8 inches of rain at my house between saturday and sunday and now it's just the wind. It is blowing like crazy but the rain is gone ... woo hoo!! I didn't even lose power out so not so bad after all. We do have a person missing tho that went out in a canoe on a flooded street with a friend and their canoe flipped over and one of them is still missing. I sure hope we have a positive outcome on this because it is such an unnecessary loss if he is not found. I hope everyone on here that was in the path of this storm is safe.
Until then,
