The "power of prayer" has been often quoted, sometimes studied, and often has deeply convicted individuals in spite of critics.
I've read some studies where the power of prayer greatly influenced those being prayed for, and some where there was no effect. Being prayer, in and of itself, it doesn't conform to being studied in a lab, IMHO.

***I believe in it deeply. ***

This is not about Christianity or new age or anything particular, it's simply about people coming together with a common intent and common purpose and saying prayers for the benefit of another.

I thought I'd see if there are any people out there who wanted to start a Prayer Chain of our own.
Post here if you want prayers for yourself, your children, your husbands. Maybe even others affected by this MLC journey. Tell us what your heartfelt prayers are for.

I for one pray for everyone on here, but I will commit to praying specifically every night at 10 PM eastern for anyone who wishes more specific intervention.
I put my prayers on a 3x5 card by my bed so no one gets forgotten.

What do you think?  ;D

I think this is an AMAZING idea!

I will start on what prayers I would like to ask of everyone...

That my husband gain the strength and will to reach out for help and to come home to his family, for the health and strength of us LBS to continue our stands, no matter what,  to the chances for all of us to reach a time of new beginnings...

Oh, I guess I should put my prayer on here. :)
I pray my husband learns the lessons needed to be a happy person, the amazing dad I know he can be, and that he finds and develops a personal relationship with the Lord.
I pray that my step-kids find strength lessons in this mess and are not permanently affected negatively by it.
And ultimately, I pray for his return and the rebuilding of our marriage - of course. :)

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this idea.

I pray each morning for all on this and the other forums. I have specific people I pray for and would love to add specific people to my list.

My prayer:

For my H to recommit his life to God, for him to see the Truth, and to realize how much his family truly loves him.

For my kids to view love as unconditional and marriage as something you work to improve.

For God to soften the hearts of the prodigals and to return them home (emotionally/physically).

For the newbies to these boards to lean on God during these most difficult days, weeks, months.

For God to give me strength and endurance to move forward in my own journey. For him to enable me to always be forgiving no matter what crosses my path in the days ahead.


I know this is long. Perhaps you could just say "Still's needs and those of her family" ---God already knows what they are....I just need reinforcement.

Each and every night, I pray for all of us. My new motto, slogan, guise at the end of each prayer is a paraphrase of Mathew as I end each prayer with the statement: "Through faith and only faith alone, you can move mountains." It is what allows me to stand, hold my children, and still look at my wife with love. Great topic.

I think this is a great idea. I also like the 3x5 card idea - don't want to forget anyone. I will be praying at 10pm mountain time.

My prayer:
I pray that my husband will realize that his self medication (drinking excessively) and his life with OW is not happiness and its his family that he can truly rely on.

I pray for God to give me the strength to forgive and give me direction toward the path he wants me to take.

I also pray for everyone on this board. May your suffering end.

Ultimately I pray that my husband returns home, they we sucessfully reconcile and have a much stronger, loving and respectful bond as a result of this situation.

So I was trying to put into words a prayer but I just can't.  Honestly, I am having the worst day I have had in many, many months and the sadness is unrelenting today.  I am tired.  I am weary.  I hate feeling alone.  Please just pray that I can pick myself up and continue to WANT to stand.

Trusting, for you I'll pray for strength, endurance, clarity and comfort. :) Easy and done. :) I'm really sorry you are feeling sad. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I find that sadness usually means something is about to change or just changed (let down) - so look for the lesson you were to learn and embrace the sadness. It can be bittersweet if you learn to love yourself enough.

Please pray for God's Will to ALWAYS be done in my life, the life of our son, and the life of my husband...that is my prayer request; for it is HIS WILL, and not mine that is most important.

I am and will continue praying for you all in this same fashion....God knows the needs and the hearts, and already knows what's ahead.

I'm still on a break, but this thread caught my eye, and for good reason. :) 

What follows is food for thought.  :)

This is a gentle reminder that as long as God comes first, all else will fall into place as He Wills it.

The prayer requests are all good ones; you are praying for marriage restoration, your spouses to come through the tunnel, and you're praying for yourselves.

Yet, the MOST important component is missing...where is the prayer for God's Will to be done in each and every life that you are praying for, including your own?

While He does look at each individual's will in regards to what is being asked for, and hears every prayer sent up, He also looks to see how it falls in line with HIS WILL.

HIS WILL is what will prevail in whatever situation stands, and you need to accept that this comes before yours, as you submit your requests to the Father.

While praying for myself and others, it was and is always prayed that HIS WILL be done in all circumstances, not my will.  The Lord's Prayer is evidence of this; as it states clearly:  "Thy Kingdom come THY WILL BE DONE; on earth, as it is in Heaven".

Something else to think about...all the possibilities must be faced and accepted in regards to this crisis, as well as understanding that some prayers are not and will not be answered because God knows what is ahead at ALL times; and people are still allowed to exercise free will that was given to ALL people as a gift.

He instructed me to pray that He would work within my husband's heart, as what is within the heart, the mind will usually follow; God will NOT tamper with the mind at all, that would be against His gift of free will...but nothing could keep Him from working within the heart of a person.

I prayed, also for Him to work within other people's hearts, and I saw those prayers answered most of the time, unless the heart I was praying for was hard as a rock...but it takes time for God to break through..and He does this in His time, just as it takes His time to answer prayers, if it is HIS WILL to do so.

Not to dash anyone's hopes, but I didn't always get positive answers to every one of my prayers, and I had to accept that with an open heart, knowing that He knows all things, and I do not. 

Later, when hindsight became 20/20, I realized that if I'd gotten what I THOUGHT I wanted, in regards to praying for my husband, it wouldn't have been good for me, as at times I was praying out of ignorance, so, I thanked the Lord for always watching out after me, and NOT answering some of the prayers I prayed for my husband during his MLC.

Never forget to ask for His Will to be done; understanding that His Will will always supercede all, and even though it seems that things are bleak, always remember God is STILL God, and He is STILL working within the situation, behind the scenes, unseen, but not unfelt.  :)

Thanks for the reminder, HB. I guess I just assumed that everyone starts and ends the supplications they make with including "if it's within Your Will" - it's an understood part of the process in my mind.

You're absolutely right in that sometimes we want things that are not good for us, and the best thing we can do is ask for His Will be done. We always know that His Will for our lives will ALWAYS be in OUR best interests. Can't go wrong, as the saying goes. :) LOL

I've been praying the same prayers for a week now. Anyone want to change theirs up? Mine stays the same, I pray for my H's salvation. He needs it. He's so lost.

Thanks for the prayers, M&H.  I have pulled myself up out of the negative place I was last weekend.  I would like to change my prayer request. I do love Still's prayer on this thread.:)  I am quite certain God is speaking to my husband (something I have been praying for all along, that He would be relentless in speaking to him).  I pray that my H would listen to God's voice and choose to obey.

I LOVE that. Relentless in speaking to him. I've said the prayer for you.

I was listening to someone who said she anointed her H's shoes and bed with anointing oil and asked God to send his ministering angels to be by her H's side always as he slept and as he traveled around during the day. I thought that was brilliant.

That's great - that annointing!  I have prayed a "princess and the pea" prayer over the couch my H sleeps on - that it will get increasingly more and more uncomfortable for him. :)

I was having a tough time last weekend because I opted out of getting together with some of my dearest and oldest friends last weekend mostly because I didn't think I would be able to hold myself together.  One knows what is going and another has an inkling but the rest have no clue.  I was in a bad, bad place because i was mourning what I was missing and blaming my H all over again since his MLC is why I wasn't there.  I had to get over myself.  I am better now with renewed resolve. :)

My dear friends, can I ask you to please say a prayer for my neighbor, Sally.  Her husband died today after a very short battle with cancer.  She is a wonderful person; always there with a smile and a kind word.  She is extremely sad over her husband's passing and I ask that you say a little prayer for her that she finds peace.

This is a GREAT thread! I pray every night for everyone on this forum and others. I have never felt so much pain in my life . Before when people i knew got divorced I never really give it alot of thought , the pain they were going through. Now I see things so differently. The Lord has really opened my eyes.

Pray the Lord will open my husbands eyes. And pray for strength for me and my children. My H has been addicted to prescription meds for years, Pray the Lord will some how make him see what this is doing to him. I know all of this happened for a reason. Just pray what ever Gods will is it will be done.

The meds was a huge part of the break down of our marriage. Now combined with MLC it has been a hard journey.

Friends, there are many things I pray for daily, including each of you and your spouses, your children, myself, my husband, our marriage, our children, strength and patience, and the ability to understand that this is out of my control.  Please include me in your prayers. 

Especially today I will need great strength and clarity in dealing with my H.  If anyone reads this soon, please say a quick prayer for me to find those things today.

Although I haven't been overly religious in the past, my neighbour has been taking me to chapel every Sunday and it's been a great help. Everyone is so nice and welcoming there. A nice lady prayed with me and gave me a Gideons new testament and psalms - and although she is 30 years older than me we have become friends -  I wouldn;t have found this friend if my h had not left....... God works in mysterious ways?

I am a great believer in 'people power' and 'positive thoughts' so I have been giving my thoughts to:

1) The great people on this forum - you've been lifesavers, literally.
2) My friend who is going through a similar problem to me with his w.
3) and of course my Husband; he is a lost soul at the moment and I love him dearly.

Hi everyone,
    Just wanted to know if anyone would like to change their prayers. Mine have changed al ittle.
 
1. I pray for strength and clarity for myself in dealing with this entire situation. To be able to Let Go and detach.

2. I pray that GOD speaks to my husband's heart. He is lost and believes OW is the answer.

3. I pray for the ability to forgive and keep forgiving, so that I may move forward, at times I am lost.

4. I pray for peace to come to everyone on this forum.

Ultimately I have put myself, my H and my marriage in GOD's hands and if it is HIS WILL, I pray for my marriage to survive and be better than before.

I pray that we all find peace in our hearts, for forgiveness (ourselves as well as the MLCers) and that we follow God's will...regardless of what the outcome is. He knows what's best for us...I'm learning to letting go and let him lead me...without any expectations

I pray that our spouses are safe, that they find peace and that they listen to what God is trying to tell them. I pray for our children who are also having a difficult time with the rejection of a parent they adored. I pray  for the OW or OM, for indeed, they cannot find true happiness in what they are doing, I pray that we all have stregth to get through each day and especially for any of you who are facing financial or medical issues...praying for healing in all levels.

I pray that our marriages will be with God who is able to do all things....I pray for my H who is in such a sorrowful place.

I have a few different prayers and pray frequently.  I was starting to loose faith.. :(  After reading many posts, especially HB's, it donned on me that I was praying and asking.... I wasn't listening.  That very same day, I was so sad and depressed and started to listen rather than ask.  I received 3 instructions in the same voice I have heard before and always in my left ear.  I am obeying my instructions and have to believe that they are specifically for a reason I don't know of yet.

He told me to:
1)  Hang in there (slang but I understand it).
2)  Do nothing
3)  Believe in myself

I was so happy to hear specific instructions, then of course I started to think about what these instructions are meant to lead me to, that they are vague to me, and was going downhill again.  I decided to obey and have faith that He knows what is happening and what I need to do.  I hope I can "Hang in there" without riding the emotional rollercoaster.

Dear Friends,  This is similar to the prayer posted at the beginning, but it one I say for all of us daily.

I ask that You and the angels help me heal my love life. I am willing to release any unforgiveness I may be harboring toward myself and my partner, and I ask that the angels cleanse me of all anger or resentment now. Please help us to see each other through the eyes of love. I ask that all effects of our mistakes be undone in all directions of time. Please work with my partner so that we may have harmony, romance, friendship, respect, honesty and great love for one another. Please renew our love. Thank You. 

I follow this with several other prayers of my faith, including one that mentions god's will be done--just for you HB ;)

I love this thread and will also commit to praying each night.

HB makes a valid point. My main prayer these days is that someone be put in the path of my H who will help lead him to the Lord. I already KNOW that is God's will because it is his will that not one soul be lost. He is the Good Shepherd, and he knows where to look for every one of his sheep.

FWIW, I believe it is also God's will that our marriages be restored. He joins us together, after all. It is our free will to walk away that gets in the way of God's will. I also believe in praying very specifically, as God wants us to pour out our hearts to him. So whether we pray for our marriages to be restored or simply for God's will to be done, I believe it accomplishes the same purpose.

I will be praying at 10 Eastern also.

Wanted to bump this up:

My prayer for everyone going through MLC, being LBS, MLCer and our children, is that 2011 will be a year of progress through this MLC tunnel. For us to learn, forgive (not forget) and mostly to heal.

My personal prayer is to learn to LET GO (mostly of my anger) and let GOD handle my marriage.

I absolutely believe in the power of prayer.  I have been praying throughout this journey.  I have prayed for myself, my husband, our marriage and even the OW.

I would be so grateful for any of you who would be willing to pray for us specifically.  I trust you to pray as you will.  I have been praying that my husband overcome his struggle and find peace.  From there I believe we will find our way.  I continue to pray for patience and strength for myself.

Thak you for this prayer thread, just wat i neededo n a day lkke today. 
I do pray that God's will be done in my life and that he continue to grant me the grace, peace and strength to continue through this long and painful struggle.  I ask that you pray form y children, that they find peace and joy in our day to day life, even without thier father's presence.  I pray for myself, that God find a way to restore this marraige  to a place where it is a greater testimony for others in this same situation.  I pray that God seek out my husban'ds heart and guide him to follow God's will, and not just his own free will. 

I pray for all couples who are strugling to keep thier marriages together, for those WS that cannot find God as thier ultimate happiness to seek him and for those who are in midst or have been divorced that God continue to heal thier broken hearts. 

Ipray that on this glorious day of our Lord's birth that you fin joy in the greatness of God and ther unending hope and faithfulness htat God has given to us.  WIth God all things are possible.
May God's love surround you all this Christmas day.

This is good to have.  We all need prayer.  I too have fallen away a few times with all of this MLC.  But I always come back because someone loves me enough to pray for me and to talk to me.  I praise God for them.

I too pray everyday that God will put someone, something in his life to lead him to God.  I feel in my heart he will do this eventually.  I know it will happen when I least expect it.  I praise God for this.  I do have a lot of people praying for me and I know there is power in prayer.

I pray for each and everyone of us on this site to have peace and guidence from God and to allow us to listen to him and what he is saying.

I continue to pray for all of us here, both those I know by name and those whose posts I have read. I have difficulty understanding why this is happening...but truly, I would think that I would know if it was over.

God leads us, He guides us and He brings peace to us..but we do get tired of waiting. The hardest part is knowing that God is talking to them but they do not listen! And waiting for God's perfect timing.

I still feel off balanced, the last 48 hours were a wonderful gift from God and my daughter and I with her boyfriend and their wonderful family celebrated Christ's birth together...and the sadness was much less than expected, and the laughter and smiles so much more. God seems to know when I just cannot take anymore...I always seem to get a reprive then.

Blessings to all of you, this day and tomorrow. I hope that the pain diminishes day by day and that our loved spouses will hear God's voice...they do have to go through this journey, my Beloved's seems to be getting darker and darker and he has drawn even further away from me....I pray that God will get him to look inside and travel that path..eventually returning home to his wife and daughter who love him.

I have an URGENT PRAYER REQUEST.  This is for my sister's husband. His name is Kevin Campbell. He is in Surgery ICU in very critical condition. This started 2 weeks ago when he had the flu. He was not eating or drinking much and two days later,  (Saturday) his 8 yr. old daughter ran to my sister, who is a nurse, and said Daddy is not acting right. My sister found him on the living room floor with game pieces around and he was talking gibberish. She dialed 911 and told them it was either low blood sugar, a seizure, or he was having a stroke.

It was low blood sugar and he bounced back quickly. However, since he is a 2 time kidney transplant patient, they kept him for observation overnight. Everything was well until Monday afternoon. Vicky (sis) called on her way home from work saying she was picking up Taylor (daughter) from play date and then going grocery shopping. He told her he had had some blood in his stool that day, but nothing major. He told her he felt ok then so she went on to the grocery store.

She returned about 45 minutes to an hour. She called him and he told her he could not help her carry anything inside. She said he sounded weak. Taylor opened the door first. They have a half bath downstairs in the main hallway. There was blood everywhere! Vicky said it looked like someone had butchered a hog or something. He was on the toilet, with his head leaning against the wall. Blood was on the walls, floor, light switch, and literally pouring out all over the floor. Taylor thought her Daddy was dying right in front of her. He had lost 2/3rds of his blood.

The local hospital thought the problem was his colon so they removed part of it. However, they could not actually find the source of the blood leak. His kidney stopped functioning. He was having trouble breathing. They gave him a few blood transfusions, but the blood just comes back out. After a week there, he was stable enough to transport him to University Hospital, which is a trauma, teaching hospital.

They found he has double pneumonia. Both lungs completely full of fluid. The antibiotics were not working at all. Kidney still not functioning and they are concerned it is dying. They did surgery to find out what is happening. My sister told the docs that the kidney is the last thing on her mind, since he can be on dialysis. It's the rest of him they need to save.

Where they had sutured the tubes together from the colon surgery, because he has gained 26 pounds of fluid since all this started, his kidneys not removing fluid, and his large size, the tubes had burst. He had bile leaking into his system. Therefore, not surprising he has sepsis throughout his system. And this was the reason why the antibiotic was not working for his lungs. During this surgery, he coded TWICE. However, they brought him back.

They left his stomach open; covered with what I call a saran wrap covering. They did this so they do not have to open him up again when they go inside to clean him out. They will not suture him back together until they are sure all of the bile is removed from his system.

While doing this surgery on Saturday, he had a "cardiac issue"  as the doctor put it. His blood pressure dropped drastically and they did chest compressions for 2 minutes. They said right now they have no idea if/how much heart damage was done.

After this surgery, his blood pressure kept dropping, so they upped his blood pressure medicine. They had to insert a tube through his neck for the kidney dialysis. His lungs are still full of fluid, but they are hopeful that now the antibiotic will start to work.

They have him sedated to the point of near coma. He is on heavy doses of antibiotics and on morphine for pain.They wake him periodically for about a minute or less to check his responses.  On Saturday evening he squeezed the nurse's hand on demand and wiggled his toes.

On Sunday, Vicky told him they had to shave part of his beard to insert the tube for his kidney and he raised his eyebrow....like he does when he is saying "What the...." He squeezed Vicky's hand and tried to smile. So, so far all of his responses have been appropriate and good.

He is a big man.....6'5", about 250 pounds plus. I maintain he is also a very strong man and a fighter since they have just about lost him on the table 3 times.

He became a Christian as a child, but presently they all do not attend church. My sister was raised in church and is a Christian, but does not attend church.

I am asking all of you to pray for Kevin and if you have prayer lists in your churches, please mention him. Kevin needs a miracle. In my opinion, he has already received 3 of those, since they were able to revive him. He is only 46 years old. (I think!)

This is my sister's 2nd marriage. Two months ago, she told me she was going to divorce him because she walked in on him using the internet viewing porn. I begged her to go for counseling and give him a second chance. At first she refused; telling me she was not as forgiving as I am. She is very stubborn and tends to make make snap decisions or reacts without thinking (none of us act that way, right? LOL!  ;))  But, two days later, after hearing some other nonsense and torture my husband was putting me through, she saw the light. Kevin had started counseling. They were working things out. She was determined to Stand for her marriage.


My divorce is scheduled for this Thursday. As you all know, I do not have an attorney since I still owe her money. I begged my husband to put a hold on this, especially now that my attention needs to be on my sister. My daughter is receiving a settlement from worker's comp. in a few weeks. She also asked her father to wait until she receives this, so she can loan me the money. She said to him, "give her the chance to have representation in the courtroom, like you have. She needs to be treated fairly."

My h told me he left a message for his attorney. That's all I know for now.

My attention is on Kevin; my sister and their daughter. I appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers more than you all know! You all have become cherished friends, even though I have never seen you all face to face!

An update on Kevin:

After the procedures done this weekend, they let Kevin rest some on Sunday. They opened him up again on Monday to irrigate all the gunk inside him. Last night, when they woke him up, for the first time, he was slow to respond right away. However, this morning, he responded immediately.

They did the irrigation again, and he had another cardiac issue. Again for about 2 minutes, but they brought him back. His blood pressure decreased rapidly and was dangerously low.

This afternoon while his nurse was in the room, all the bells and whistles went off on his machines and they called code blue. They put a tube in and withdrew 800 cc's of fluid from him. Again, his blood pressure went down. He was without oxygen for several minutes. They have no idea how much if any damage has been done.

My sister is a mess. As anyone would be. When I talked to her tonight, she said being a nurse is awful right now because she knows what happens to someone when all of this goes on. Her daughter is being impatient with the excuses why she can't call her father or go see him. In her words, "it's been 2 weeks, can't they get him a telephone or make him better by now?!"

And this morning she apparently asked her mother if her Daddy was going to live with Casey......their dog that died this summer. Children aren't stupid, are they?

We all, of course are asking God for a miracle. I don't care how bad it looks, I know God can heal him!

Great idea!

I pray for my children that they will know that they are loved by the universe, their parents, their extended family and their friends regardless of what happens to my M.
I pray for my H, that he works his way through his problems and eventually comes to see that he had a very happy life and he discarded it in crisis for an illusion of love. I pray for the OW, I pray that she gains some clarity about what role she has played in the destruction of a family. It is not her fault but she was complicit and I pray that whatever problems that she has in her life become something she can work on for herself so that she will desire a different relationship with someone who has not made broken commitments to another person.

I pray for peace my original family, especially my M who has struggled with my F and his problems for longer than anyone should have to. I pray for my IL family who have been so caring and helpful in all of this.

I pray for the people in my life, and indeed all of those in the world, who are dealing with sickness and death, that they will know peace and freedom from pain in whatever form that takes.
I pray for everyone on this board suffering from MLC and from other problems and even greater tragedies in their lives.
I pray for myself, that I can work on myself and become a stronger, better, more self-aware person. And I thank God for all the blessings in y life which are plentiful. Amen

My prayers are:

For my daugher, her sorrow, grief and ultimate healing.
For my husband to see what he is doing, end the affair, get the help he needs and return to us whole and happy; ready to commit to our marriage and family.
For the OW to see nothing good can come of the affair and to end all contact with my H. permanently.
For the faith and trust to get "unstuck" and make true detachment possible.
For the strength and conviction to get myself and my dauthger though this with dignity and grace, and for a lessening of the pain and grief.
For the needed friendship and support, endurance and econimic and other resources to help us not only survive, but thrive.
For happiness, peace, and contement now and no matter the outcome.

Or, like STILL, just a general prayer for my H, D,and myself on this journey toward healing.

Dear new friends and brothers and sisters on this site,
I am glad to have found this thread, I believe in power of prayer.
I also offer my prayers for all of you, whom I have met through your threads.
I specifically ask for prayers in my situation, that the Lord may guide and deal with my husband and that he may hear the Lord's voice and joyfully return to me and the children. He is still living at home, although he wants to leave. He has denied involvement with anybody else and I choose to believe him. The Lord has spoken to me about obedience to Him and I ask that He show me the areas where I have been disobedient and that He do the same with my husband. I also pray the Hedge of Thorns daily because I feel that my h is receiving some undesirable influence from the prevailing mentality in our society nowadays - such as 'maybe separation is the answer' and 'we must be happy with ourselves, first and foremost, regardless of other people'.
He has some very deep childhood issues to face and for now, is refusing to look at them - I believe it has to do with the guilt he felt at his parents' separation when he was 14 - 16 years old. His 'hate' for the OW in their case and his father's premature death from alchoholism six years after he left home.

Greetings all:

I pray that you are all in a better place today than yesterday and that tomorrow looks brighter and brighter for you.

I was recently at a Standing for Marriage ministry bible study and gathering.  I cannot tell you how comforted i was to have been there and to have met others n person that truly understood me and what I was doing by choosing to stand for my marriage.   I receive daily emails form the ministry leader Charlene, and though i know that these emails are automated and written by many in her ministry i was so deeply touched by actually meeting Charlyene in person i was brought to tears.  So many of her emails reached me just at the point when i needed them most.  I truly felt as if God was moving among all the standers here and met a few that have been standing faithfully for years.  There was one testimony where her husband finally came out of the "tunnel" and she commented at how broken he now was after his voyage to the "far country".  But she said if it weren't for all the advice and suggestions, as the ones that appear here, that she would not have been mentally, emotionally and spiritually prepared for this next phase in her marriage of restoration.

I have to thank this "ministry" as well in helping me understand more of what my husband is going through and how to manage myself and my emotions.  Although i still falter at times, i know that i am improving day by day.  I hope that each of us can find fellow standers in our community that we can confide in and who support our decision to stand instead of looking at what seems as hopeless and push us to go another route.

I pray for all of you and hope that each day through this MLC journey of our spouse, brings us closer to a relationship with God and a deeper understanding of ourselves. 

God bless those who are moderators here who provide sound advice for us to follow.

Gladyou could post the link - I wasn't sure on the policy on that here.  Her books and her husbands books ae great too and only like $5 each which helps suport the ministry.  The prodigal's perspective is one that i recommend everyone sould read.  Written by her husband Bob it shows us what was really happening to him while he was away from the home and how much he was led by the OW.

Special scripture prayer when praying for someones salvation/restoration WORKS! This is good for the prodigal also.

I wanted to share a little something with all of you about praying a loved one to salvation or restoration. I found this to be a very interesting bit of overlooked scripture by myself on salvation. The story below is told by Marilyn Hickey, of who I support her ministry now and then, and she is a upstanding woman of God and all about Gods truth...so if she says it works, I believe her. As well as the principle of why scripture would bring the prayer result for sure, being Gods Word, is just logical when you ponder the power of it. In our armor of God, what is our key weapon? The Bible, it is the sword of the Spirit. Scripture is our key weapon against Satan! So wanted to share this scripture for salvation to those here, as salvation is the greatest miracle of God. Speak and claim this over your lost loved one!

Subject: 1 John 5:16 Spouse prayer
Some neat stuff from Marilyn Hickey:

Once, while we were in Turkey, I had an unusual experience. here we were...seated at dinner...I had just gotten off the plane...everybody in the team was tired...and there were 8 people seated at our table. The woman across from me said, "You know, I have recently seen 3 of my loved ones get saved. I didn't give them a tract. I didn't take them to church. I didn't buy them a book. GOD JUST MOVED ON THEIR HEARTS."

So I said, "Why do you think that happened?"

She said, "I took 1 John 5:16 where it says, "You shall ASK for [LIFE...]and GOD WILL GIVE THEM LIFE,' and that's what I did." She continued, "For years, I've prayed for them but this time I took that scripture and claimed it for them and stood on it...and in a short while, all 3 of them got saved."

I thought, "I know that scripture. In fact, I've memorized the whole book of 1 John and I never saw this verse used that way." And so I got my Bible...read the verse and exclaimed, "How simple this is! How could I have missed it?" AND THAT'S WHEN THE LORD SHOWED ME HOW TO ADD THIS REVELATION TO THE SUPERNATURAL WEAPONS OF MY WARFARE...AND THEN SHARE IT WITH OTHERS. And let me tell you...it really works! If you see someone slipping away...missing it...losing it...you can "Ask for Life" for them and "God will give them life."

Prov. 31:8 tells us that we can speak for those who cannot speak for themselves...for those who are pointed towards destruction. That's where you and I come in. Love, Me

I am a believer in the Power of Prayer with Petition and Thanksgiving I have a few prayers I like to do several times a day, I always feel uplifted after saying these prayers. I hope others find this as comforting. I Put mine and my H's name in the places that are blank.

"I ask You, Father, to rebuke and bind satan in the Name and through the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. I ask you to build a Hedge of Thorns around _____ so that anyone who is interested in him will lose interest immediately and leave. Hello, my friends.  A very dear friend of mine passed away yesterday from brain cancer; he was only 43.  He was such a sweet soul and I will miss him terribly.  I would greatly appreciate it if you all could keep his wife and mother in your prayers tonight.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

It is so hard when someone close to us dies, especially at such a young age. I will include them in my prayers tonight and you as well. May God comfort his family as they mourn the loss of their husband and father.

I would like to add my prayer requests.

I pray that my H will turn to God and allow God's will to be done in his life
I pray that my children will look to God to bring them through this confusion in their lives.
I pray that the Lord will work in me to create the person he has always intended me to be.
I pray that the OW turns to God and turns back to her family.
I pray for a hedge of thorns around my H.
I pray for all of the LBS's on this forum and everywhere that they receive the peace promised and look to the Lord for guidance and strength to come through their situations.
I pray that the Lord will walk with me and show me his will in my life and help me to hear what he says my course should be.

The movie that made Marilyn Monroe famous was The Seven Year Itch. The idea was that about every seven years most married people begin to itch where they can’t scratch. They know something is wrong, but they don’t know what, let alone what to do about it. Often they have an affair around that time.
 
Of all marital problems, that which I have confronted the most often in my pastoral counseling is, “I just don’t love her anymore.” While there is a vast difference between being “in love” and loving someone, we still crave to be in love.
 
Couples have been coming to me with marital problems ever since my first pastorate. Ninety percent of them have been married from two to seven years, though some as long as 30. All had the same problem—lost love.
 
What the Bible has to say
 
After hearing this repeated literally hundreds of times in serious counseling sessions, I began to search the Bible for the answer. I found it in Revelation 2:1-5.
 

“To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands: I know your deeds, your hard work and perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.”
 
In these verses, Jesus Christ, the heavenly Bridegroom, is dictating a letter through the Apostle John to His bride, the church at Ephesus.
 
In the first verse He reminds her that He is the glorious Son of God, Creator of the World, and Upholder of the Law. He says that He has not changed through eternity. He is to her as He has always been. In verses two and three He commends her for her fidelity to Him, her work, her patience, her disdain for evil, her doctrinal integrity, and her tireless labor on His behalf.
 
At the beginning of the fourth verse, however, the whole tenor of the conversation begins to change. “Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.” Her love for the groom has cooled. It is not the vibrant thing it once was. She has fallen out of love.
 
How will the loving bridegroom, the master marital authority, deal with the problem?
 
The first overtones of the fourth verse give a surprising, subtle hint as to the approach He will use. He is understanding and patient, yet He is upset as well. It is not a small thing! A grievous wrong has been done, and He will deal with it directly and rather severely. “Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken you first love.” I have something against you! I am charging you with a serious offense. This expression, “against you,” is heavy terminology. It is a serious charge, but not one without remedy. In verse five, He gives His perfect three-point prescription on how to fall in love again.
 

“Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first.”

1. Repent. Why does Jesus say such a thing as “Repent”? Why is falling out of love treated, in part, as a sin? It can only be because falling out of love is a symptom of a spiritual problem. Because God is love and the author of love, God alone can give real love. When the process of the integration and selfless meshing of two personalities has begun to collapse, it is because God’s love—agape love—is gone.
 
To fall in love again you must be absolutely honest with yourself and go back to your relationship with God. Where did it jump the track? When did you first begin to fall out of love with Him? When did your heart first begin to grow cold? You will usually be able to trace your lack of love for your mate to a short time after the beginning of your loss of love for the Lord. The hardest thing you may ever have to do is ask God’s forgiveness for the sin of falling out of love. However, it is such an essential part of the prescription that it won’t work without it. Go ahead, confess, come clean with God. Admit it. Let His love begin to flow into you. Only then will it flow out from you to your spouse.
 
Biblical repentance also entails a change of direction. It means to get back on the track and start doing again what you were doing. Get back to where spiritual growth occurs: in the church, in the Bible, and in prayer. We may be assured His promise is secure, that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
 
2. Remember. “Remember the height from which you have fallen.” The next part of Christ’s prescription to the loveless bride is to enlist all the power of the mind as an ally in her effort to regain lost love.
 
The New Testament writers taught positive thinking long before this generation ever heard of it.
 

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. —Philippians 4:8-11
 
That’s good, positive thinking, and Jesus commands it as part of His prescription for falling in love again.
 
Relive every word, incident, date, kiss, and touch as you were falling in love with this person. Remember the wedding moment by moment, flower by flower, promise by promise. Remember the joy as you drove away from the church, the thrill of your wedding night, the ecstasy of your honeymoon. Remember that first apartment, the first time you went grocery shopping together.
 
Recall it again and again in your mind. Remember how you felt, all of your hopes and dreams. Focus on that, and there will come gradually to your heart the desire to relive it, to pick up the pieces of a broken love affair and love again.
 
3. Repeat. Knowing what pleases my wife proves our close relationship. Choosing to do what pleases her demonstrates my love.
 
To “do the things you did at first” is the clear requirement of this part of the prescription. Some of you are probably saying, “Do you mean that I am to play a game, to put on an act, to respond where I am unresponsive, to say what I do not mean and do what I do not really feel?” The answer is an emphatic “Yes!” Don’t focus on feeling something about your spouse—do something for your spouse. Love is something you do!
 
You can fall in love again
 
What happens psychologically and therapeutically when the soul addresses the Lord, the mind addresses itself, and the bodily actions address the injured spouse? You can fall in love again.
 
As your whole being is thrust into the role of rebuilding the broken relationship, you will notice two responses in you spouse. The first may well be suspicion. The second response will be your spouse’s attitude toward the new you. Your spouse will become a new person that you can more easily love.
 
If a relationship has grown sour, then neither party is acting as they once did. They are both only reacting. A chicken-egg cycle occurs, and there is no easy solution. Someone must take the initiative to break the cycle.
 
Is it worth it to you? Is the salvation of your home, the stability of your children, the sacredness of your commitment, and the sanctity of your own well-being and relationship with God worth the effort?
 
No one can answer that question but you. You can fall in love again, but the medicine is hard to take. The prescription is strong, but it works if you think it is worth it.
