Title: Coaching Archives E-Book
Post by: Rollercoasterider on October 28, 2012, 08:53:46 PM
Hi everyone. I am getting ready to publish the coaching archives e-book again—with deletions, additions and additional revisions. I hope it will be ready in a few weeks. I’m just waiting to hear from some of those included for permissions and change requests.
Originally I called it
Abandoned!
Dealing with Midlife Crisis and Infidelity When You Don’t Want a Divorce

And the main book (most of the text is made up of the main site articles, though some have now been edited out to get to an appropriate word count) will be called
The Hero’s Spouse
Dealing with Midlife Crisis and Infidelity When You Don’t Want a Divorce

But some publishers will not approve of The Hero’s Spouse as a title—though some did like it. That means I may be asked to change it—one even wanted it changed before I submit it to her. Well, I think the next best is Abandoned! So I think I should reserve that title for the main book and not use it on the e-book. With that in mind I have looked up synonyms in the MS Word Thesaurus and would love to see which you think would be best—keeping the subtitle the same.

Hi RCR,

I will put my thinking cap on while cooking my dinner.

first that comes to mind is "He is no Hero, I am my own Hero - living your life after he tells you he no longer loves you"
(but then that does not cover the men here)!

How to stay sane, when your ex makes out you are the one loosing the plot!

Own your own life, all by yourself.

Screw that!

Ex, not accountable - but you can and want to be - here's how!

Out of the fog, and into life

How to pick up the pieces of your shattered heart and make it beat again

Cry, laugh and live again - life is way too short

Let your tears get washed down the drain in the shower - where they belong!

I know how you feel - I have been there and I can help you move to a better place

All by myself, and happy with me.

How could an angel break my heart (that's an old Toni Braxton song - still brings me to tears - arrgghh)

That's it for now, some are a bit lame but you may be able to get bits and pieces from all of us. x  I could go on and on and on

Broken hearts can be healed

It's your heart, take control of it don't give it away completely!

Some hero, what happened to my knight in shining armour? What happened to me, where did the princess go?

that is it for now best I eat my dinner, big day ahead tomorrow.

"Being the LightHouse - I Love You But I'm Not in Love With You"

"Being the LightHouse - Midlife Crisis is Real"

You are assuming that the term hero is referring to the MLCer! In a writing group a few years ago they automatically assumed it referred tot he spouse--which I actually thought was odd that they all thought that.
It is open to both and is a reference to the main charachter of the story--thus both are the heros of their own story.

As for titles. Thanks--it looks like the votes are leaning toward my first choice as well. The subtitle is set--though of course a publisher could change it. But it has all of the key words and ideas in a single phrase: MLC, Infidelity and not wanting a divorce
I'm really only looking for the main title that goes above the subtitle and only for hte coaching archives, not the main book. Though Left Behind may be a good option for that as well.

Beyond Betrayal- How to heal a shattered heart

Personally, I would stick with the Hero Spouse title and say take it or leave it.

I've already put the E-book out with the main head of Left Behind!
But I am still keeping a list of options for the main book with the subtitle: Dealing with Midlife Crisis & Infidelity When You Don't Want a Divorce. Though the assessor recommended adding Your Spouse's before Midlife Crisis if the main title does not make that clear--a good idea of I maintain the title as The Hero's Spouse.
The subtitle contains all the required components. The key words/phrases Midlife Crisis and Infidelity and it contains the important position--not wanting a divorce. So it says everything. The main headline just needs to be something to catch attention.

That would be nice, but given that my livelihood is on this book--this  forum right now, but the book should boos my income and take my career and advocacy to a bigger level, I can't be that stubborn. And it's not how the publishing world works. Authors choose working titles, the publishers get the next say. Sweetheart had a good idea the other day--if the don't use The Hero's Spouse as the title. Somewhere it could say that it is from The Hero's Spouse website on the front cover or inside title page. That would link the brand.
