Title: Testimonials
Post by: Rollercoasterider on February 23, 2013, 12:11:13 PM
Ugh, I hate doing stuff like this!  :P  Why--because I'm wary of testimonials due to things like I lost 50 pounds in 2 weeks and you can too sort of stuff.
I am working on submitting The Hero's Spouse manuscript. I've sent a query to a first choice editor and will send to a few agents in a few weeks if I do not hear back--all requested the proposal at last Summer's conference.
Well, it is not a typical section of a proposal, but I would like to have a Testimonials section as an option. I won't include it when submitting, but can mention it when I get an agent and she can consider whether it might be important.
I compiled a list a couple of years ago fro emails and by looking across the web to read what people were saying, but some recent stuff would be great.
So I am asking for testimonials and you can list them in this thread. I will keep you anonymous. These may be used in a book proposal or on the website later--I may set up a tab for them at the main site to encourage more people to stick around!
I'm really looking for brief statements--not paragraphs or books! So here is an example from those I collected a few years ago. I edited some for length, grammar and clarity and will do the same with those submitted here.

This site is great because it helped me go through the process without burdening my friends and family.  My friends and family would have only been distressed seeing me in pain, and it was good to be able to fall apart here, cry, journal, and work things out and get advice from people who REALLY understand what I am dealing with.  Other people would give advice not understanding MLC and in their best interests in order to not have to see me in pain, and it was important that I be able to share with people who understood, and also support other people going though the same thing if I could.

This site helped me carry on strongly in my life and, I believe, definitely shortened the process of pain and confusion for me.

This site helped me realize that its not my fault. My self-esteem would have been shattered and I would have descended into bitterness without it I think. I truly believe God led me here as he knew it would help with my healing and with my decision to stand. God Bless The Hero's Spouse!
