I have just been talking with Counterculture about a meetup this fall in Colorado.
I would be willing to organize something the weekends of Oct 12, 19 or 26th. I have a large enough home for meeting in and there are several reasonably priced hotels close by. To keep costs down, we could all take turns cooking..or just order pizza ;D
I would LOVE if RCR would consider joining us and perhaps we could contribute to bringing her here and offer some compensation to her..it would be WONDERFUL to meet her.
I'm heading to Ireland soon, but we thought we'd put this out and see what ideas people might have.
Let me know, you know me, Queen of the LBS meetups..not exactly the title I had in mind but I guess MRS. doesn't fit anymore.

FYI... check out Frontier Airlines since their hub is in Denver and they usually have low-cost fares. Southwest can be budget-friendly thru Denver too.

By the way, I have a eight person hot tub with a mountain view, I am certified to teach yoga, and I live on the tenth hole of a golf course. I like to cook and drink/serve beverages.

I would LOVE to come! October is going to be a very difficult month for me. It's H's and my wedding anniversary as well as the anniversary of when we met.
I shall see if the universe makes it possible for me to go. Universe: please let me stay in my home and have no significant financial hardships. Thank you. Duthla.

Okie dokie..looks like there is some interest. I am going to be away for a few weeks, if people who are interested can start to think about dates ( weekends of Oct 12,19 or 26) so that if we are going to do this, people can book early and save $$$$$ ;D

Xyz!!! Count me in! I missed my chance to meet you while you were on my turf ;) so it's only fair I come to you!! October - what an incredible time to visit Colorado!! What a great opportunity to meet some wonderful people. Can't wait!

The Aspens are glorious in the fall...not as spectacular as the Canadian leaf show, but still very beautiful! I think it sounds like we have enough people interested so let's start looking at dates and the C word...comittment LOL.

I'll be there in spirit! It sounds a ball. Bit pricey as a weekend outing from UK. But from the enthusiasm, maybe this will become an annual week-long event! In that case, I'll start saving. Horses, cowboys . . . ;D

I am going to plan to come as long as all is well with my dad. I am retiring from teaching this year so it will be the first October I have not been in school. Sounds like a great start to retirement.

Oct 18 to 20th sounds good. I was thinking 'if' everything goes well but, it's just a weekend so I'm sure I can manage. Any recommendations for accomodations etc? I assume we are meeting in Denver?

Oct 18 weekend should be good with me. Huskers have a bye that Saturday.

When I am more aware of the numbers, I'll check into accomodation. There are reasonable hotels close by to my house...and we shall use my house as "party central"... My thoughts are that to keep costs down, we can make our meals at my house, taking turns perhpas and sharing the costs. Perhaps going out for dinner one night.
We may also take a drive up to the mountians if people wish. The Aspens wil be glorious at that time.
If you could think about this weekend and perhaps by next weekend let me know, that way people can take advantage of cheaper flights.
For those who wish to stay a few extra days to explore Colorado we can definately extend the dtaes on either side.

Hi...I have kind of let this slide as on June 8th I put out the date of Oct 18 to 20 and only Calamity and Different Colored days seemed interested.
The Europe meetups are planned quite far in advance so that people could get flights etc. Since, there has not been much of a response, I have not done any further planning on this...so I don't know....I am always opened to meeting individuals if they find themselves out this way but a meetup usually would be several LBSers who wish to get together over a couple of days. I am not sure if the dates are what are stopping people or finances, I do know that I tried once before to arrange something here and it did not take off.
So at the moment, I am not sure that there will be a meetup in October. It would require considerable planning and since my daughter's wedding is mid Sept, I had hoped to do all the planning ahead of time.
I really don't know brokenhearted whether there is enough interest to try and get something organized. Sorry.

I haven't completely committed as my mortgage is not settled so not sure how much money I'll have. :(
