Title: Uk members storm roll-call
Post by: BB64 on October 28, 2013, 12:43:26 AM
Hi, everyone!

Saint Jude storm has hit the uk mainland and islands.
It is pretty bad down here in Dover. I'm not sure I should go and open my shop today which is situated by the Dover Marina.
My kids would be too worried about me if I did and that's what is holding me back.
Ferry crossings have all been cancelled, trees on the roads etc..,

Please would all my Uk friends post here to keeo us updated and letting us know they are alright.
Worried Booboo!

I wouldn't risk opening if the storm is looking too bad..there's no sense in putting yourself at risk to open a store.
Are schools still open?

First day of half term here, thank god!

The storm is about to get worse shortly according to bbcnews.
As my daughter said, no-one is going to go out shopping today.

Stay safe BooBoo that's your number one priority.

I am on the edge of the West Midlands and although raining and slightly windy we wait in anticipation as it crosses us later.

Hugs

Hi Booboo

I just saw Dover on the news and it looked pretty deserted - they said wind speeds were going to increase until at least 10am today so can't imagine many people would be out - I'd stay home and stay safe  ;)

It's back to school here, but no reason for them not to go - he he!

Here it's heavy rain - just found a massive pool of water inside my french doors - must be quite a lot as the carpet is totally saturated and the water is sitting on top of the carpet now. :(

Hey ho - all safe here - that's the main thing, I guess.

I think I will stay home and sort a few things from here.
We are supposed to be getting the brunt of it here in Kent.
I have tried to look into my garden but I can't keep the backdoor open for long  enough.

All calm in the North West, we've got rain and a bit of wind, no disruption, no damage.

Have you got a wet / dry vacuum to remove the water from the carpet?

It would be a shame if you have to cut a piece out or remove it due to mold. Towels will help some..

Lots of towels there at the mo - the carpet is stuck down so I can't seem to lift it out of the way... I might get the hairdryer on it later  :D

All ok here - a brick wall did get blown over in a neighbours garden.  A few fences have blown into the road but I think the worst of it is over!

Water+ hairdryer.....maybe not  :o

I meant to dry the carpet when the water has been soaked up by towels - LOL!!

Strange turn of events here - blue sky and sunshine - seems storm has passed here.  Dramarama on the news, me thinks  ;)

That's sad to hear.  I think it hasn't hit us up here quite as bad as anticipated.

I'm in West Sussex, and apart from half a tree down :( everything is calming down. Still very windy, but nowhere near as bad as in the night. The BBC say things are easing off gradually, although more rain on the way.
