Title: Music Thread: LBS or MLCer Song of the Day
Post by: NinjaGirl on November 09, 2010, 09:58:36 AM
I was driving home and Dynamite came on the radio...  I think we should all sing the following parts of the chorus whenever things get rough:

I Throw My Hands Up In The Air Sometimes,
Saying Ay-Oh, Gotta Let go.
I wanna celebrate and live my life,
Saying Ay-Oh, Baby Let's Go.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIaFNWOafvo

Get naked and dance in your living room while you sing!!  I'm for sure you'll feel a release of happiness...  ;)

What songs make you happy?

NG,

Now that will be a sight for sore eyes, can I dance to some really cool Viking music?? It's got a really driving backbeat. Lyrics are good too all about fighting and pillaging and......stuff. I'll try and get some lyrics down for you. 8) 8) 8) 8)

But I could cause trouble after a few warm beers.........just saying. :o :o :o :o :o

No No.  Don't draw the curtains, what would be the fun in that?  :)

If you dance with the windows open you could get the WHOLE neighborhood dancing naked in viking hats... use this little girl as inspiration...

The Cave
Mumford And Sons
It's empty in the valley of your heart
The sun, it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears
And all the faults you've left behind

The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see
But I have seen the same
I know the shame in your defeat

But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I'll take mine
Now let me at the truth
Which will refresh my broken mind

So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults
And despite my growing fears

But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

So come out of your cave walking on your hands
And see the world hanging upside down
You can understand dependence
When you know the maker's hand

So make your siren's call
And sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say

Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be

And I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

I found it backin June, before I even realised what it was, I knew he wa depressed but as I look at it now it is even more true.  We have to ignore their call and learn our own names again until the come out.
I like all their songs the little lion man is another of theirs I love.
I reckon most everyone here would LOL

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNy8llTLvuA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNy8llTLvuA) The cave

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLJf9qJHR3E (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLJf9qJHR3E)  Little Lion Man

Weep for yourself, my man,
you'll never be what is in your heart
weep little lion man,
you're not as brave as you were at the start
rate yourself and rake yourself,
take all the courage you have left
wasted on fixing all the problems
that you made in your own head

but it was not your fault but mine
and it was your heart on the line
I really f*cked it up this time
didn't I, my dear?
didn't I, my...

tremble for yourself, my man,
you know that you have seen this all before
tremble little lion man,
you'll never settle for any of your scores
your grace is wasted in your face,
your boldness stands alone among the wreck
learn from your mother or else spend your days biting your own neck

but it was not your fault but mine
and it was your heart on the line
I really f*cked it up this time
didn't I, my dear?

but it was not your fault but mine
and it was your heart on the line
I really f*cked it up this time
didn't I, my dear?
didn't I, my dear?

but it was not your fault but mine
and it was your heart on the line
I really f*cked it up this time
didn't I, my dear?

but it was not your fault but mine
and it was your heart on the line
I really f*cked it up this time
didn't I, my dear?

Dear friends, I know in many threads we mention songs that say MLC to us.  To lighten the mood, maybe, I thought it might be entertaining to start a thread of these "mlc songs"  There is a song I first heard a few months ago.  The minute I heard it, I thought "Did they write about an Mlcer and an LBS?"  So much of it resonated with me that way.  A funny little group called Mumford and Sons.

I hope you see this too.  It's a little gift from me to each of you.

Here are the lyrics:  ( I hope this is okay to do????)  They do make more sense when heard.  I'd suggest a visit to youtube

Lyrics to The Cave :
It's empty in the valley of your heart  (hmmm........wonder who that is?)
The sun, it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears
And all the faults you've left behind

The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see
But I have seen the same
I know the shame in your defeat

But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain---This seems to be the call of the LBS.   We do find strength in the pain!!!
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I'll take mine
Now let me at the truth
Which will refresh my broken mind

So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults
And despite my growing fears

But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

So come out of your cave walking on your hands----and does this not seem like an apt description of an MLCer???
And see the world hanging upside down
You can understand dependence
When you know the maker's hand

So make your siren's call
And sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say

Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be

And I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
It's empty in the valley of your heart
The sun, it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears
And all the faults you've left behind

The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see
But I have seen the same
I know the shame in your defeat

But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I'll take mine

"Angry All The Time"

Here we are
What is left of a husband and a wife four good kids
Who have a way of gettin on with their lives
I'm not old but I'm getting a whole lot older every day
It's too late to keep from goin' crazy
I got to get away

The reasons that I can't stay don't have a thing to do with being in love
And I understand that lovin a man shouldn't have to be this rough
You ain't the only one Who feels like this world left you far behind
I don't know why you gotta be Angry All The Time

Our boys are strong the spittin image of you when you were young
I hope someday they can see past what you have become
I remember every time I said I'd never leave
What I can't live with is memories of the way you used to be

The reasons that I can't stay don't have a thing to do with being in love
And I understand that lovin a man shouldn't have to be this rough
You ain't the only one Who feels like this world left you far behind
I don't know why you gotta be Angry All The Time

Twenty years have came and went since I walked out of your door
I never quite made it back to the one I was before
And God it hurts me to think of you
For the light in your eyes was gone sometimes
I don't know why this old world can't leave well enough alone

The reasons that I can't stay don't have a thing to do with being in love
And I understand that lovin a man shouldn't have to be this rough
You ain't the only one Who feels like this world left you far behind
I don't know why you gotta be Angry All The Time

"Ghost In This House"

I don't pick up the mail
I don't pick up the phone
I don't answer the door
I'd just as soon be alone
I don't keep this place up
I just keep the lights down
I don't live in these rooms
I just rattle around

I'm just a ghost in this house
I'm just a shadow upon these walls
As quietly as a mouse I haunt these halls
I'm just a whisper of smoke
I'm all that's left of two hearts on fire
That once burned out of control
You took my body and soul
I'm just a ghost in this house

I don't care if it rains
I don't care if it's clear
I don't mind staying in
There's another ghost here
He sits down in your chair
And he shines with your light
And he lays down his head
On your pillow at night

I'm just a ghost in this house
I'm just a shadow upon these walls
I'm living proof of the damage
Heartbreak does
I'm just a whisper of smoke
I'm all that's left of two hearts on fire
That once burned out of control
And took my body and soul
I'm just a ghost in this house
Oh, I'm just a ghost in this house

Drops of Jupiter - Train

Now that she’s back in the atmosphere
With drops of jupiter in her hair, hey, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there’s time to change, hey, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like june, hey, hey

Tell me did you sail across the sun
Did you make it to the milky way to see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated

Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star
One without a permanent scar
And did you miss me while you were looking at yourself out there

Now that she’s back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey
She checks out mozart while she does tae-bo
Reminds me that there’s time to grow, hey, hey

Now that she’s back in the atmosphere
I’m afraid that she might think of me as plain ol’ jane
Told a story about a man who is too afraid to fly so he never did land

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back to the milky way
And tell me, did venus blow your mind

Was it everything you wanted to find
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know you’re wrong
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone
Conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back toward the milky way

I love playing guitar and I've been learning this song. I find it helps. Actually my wife's MLC has really improved my playing! My youngest son likes the 'love, pride, deep fried chicken' line a lot - he sings it with me in a silly way. Makes me laugh. I only recently discovered Train, and am really enjoying unwrapping their songs. This one maybe isn't whole-heartedly mlc related, but it resonates with me and things my wife has said/how my wife behaves. The singer in Train claims that he wrote 'Drops of Jupiter' about his mother passing away - but the jury is out, because it was written after he broke up with his first wife too.

This one is more of an LBS song...one that identifies with an LBSer that has moved on....

I know I can't take one more step towards you
Cause all that's waiting is regret
And don't you know I'm not your ghost anymore
You lost the love I loved the most

I learned to live half alive
And now you want me one more time

And who do you think you are
Running 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are

I hear you're asking all around
If I am anywhere to be found
But I have grown too strong
To ever fall back in your arms

And learn to live half alive
And now you want me one more time

And who do you think you are
Running 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are
Dear, it took so long just to feel alright
Remember how to put back the light in my eyes
I wish I had missed the first time that we kissed
Cause you broke all your promises
And now you're back
You don't get to get me back

And who do you think you are
Running 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Don't come back at all

And who do you think you are
Running 'round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
Don't come back for me
Don't come back at all

Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?
Who do you think you are?

What a great thread!

When "I need an attitude lift" to get me through the day, I listen to Sara Bareilles "King of Anything".  The lyrics are a little rough when you read them in text, but the video clip is very uplifting for a wannabedetached LBS like myself.  I like how she "blossoms" throughout the video.  Hope you enjoy!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eR7-AUmiNcA

Keep drinking coffee, stare me down across the table
While I look outside
So many things I'd say if only I were able
But I just keep quiet and count the cars that pass by

You've got opinions, man
We're all entitled to 'em
But I never asked

So let me thank you for your time
And try not to waste any more of mine
Get out of here fast

I hate to break it to you babe
But I'm not drowning
There's no one here to save

Who cares if you disagree? You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So, you dare tell me who to be
Who died and made you king of anything?

You sound so innocent
All full of good intent
Swear you know best

But you expect me to
Jump up onboard with you
Ride off into your delusional sunset

I'm not the one who's lost
With no direction, oh
But you'll never see

You're so busy making masks
With my name on it in all caps
You've got the talking down
Just not the listening

Who cares if you disagree? You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be
Who died and made you king of anything?

All my life I've tried
To make everybody happy while I just hurt and hide
Waiting for someone to tell me it's my turn
To decide

Who cares if you disagree? You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be
Who died and made you king of anything?

Who cares if you disagree? You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be
Who died and made you king of anything?

Let me hold your crown, babe

Oh, I love music and how certain songs resonate at certain times in our life.

Courageous Wife, I love the "Jar of Hearts" song!  I heard that on the radio a few days after H left us again to go back with OW...

Right after BD, I listened to lot of Sheryl Crow.  Here is a good one that I really identified with:

Strong Enough by Sheryl Crow

God, I feel like hell tonight
Tears of rage I cannot fight
I’d be the last to help you understand
Are you strong enough to be my man?

Nothing’s true and nothing’s right
So let me be alone tonight
Cause you can’t change the way I am
Are you strong enough to be my man?

Lie to me
I promise I’ll believe
Lie to me
But please don’t leave

I have a face I cannot show
I make the rules up as I go
It’s try and love me if you can
Are you strong enough to be my man?

When I’ve shown you that I just don’t care
When I’m throwing punches in the air
When I’m broken down and I can’t stand
Will you be strong enough to be my man?

Lie to me
I promise I’ll believe
Lie to me
But please don’t leave

Okay, so maybe I just have MLC too much on the mind but the band in church this morning sang this song and it had a shade of MLC to me:

Wayward Son
by Kansas

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more

Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher
But I flew too high

Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
I can hear them say

{Refrain

Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, well
It surely means that I don't know

On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say

{Refrain
No!

Carry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
The center lights around your vanity
But surely heaven waits for you

Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry (don't you cry no more)

One day I turned on NPR in my car (on my way to the liquor store, LOL!) and heard John Hiatt discussing his "Mid Life Crisis" Album "Same Old Man".... found it at the library that day and every song resonates... I'll post lyrics to a couple of the songs here, but they're worth listening to in person.... try your local library!

Songwriters: Hiatt, John

SAME OLD MAN

Truth is I never was young
Shot like a bullet from a rusty old gun
I could never find the straight and true
Honey, baby till I found you

I ain't saying I ever grown up girl
Oh I'm the biggest baby in the world
I know you can say a lot about that
But you're so sweet you keep it under your hat

Honey I'm still the same old man
That you married way back when
A few less brain cells a lot less hair
Honey tell me do you still care

I love you more than I ever did
I love you just like a little kid
Guess I'll always be your biggest fan
Honey I'm still the same old man

We been down a rough road or two
This is another one we'll get through
Don't ask me how I know
I'm just saying baby please don't go

Cause I can still sparkle up your eyes
You can still cut me down to size
Please take me as I am
Honey I'm still the same old man

Honey I'm still the same old man
That you married way back when
A few less brain a lot less hair
Honey tell me do you still care

I love you more than I ever did
I love you just like a little kid
I guess I'll always be your biggest fan
Honey I'm still the same old man

You start out trying to change everything
You wind up dancing with who you bring
I loved you then and my love still stands
Honey I'm still the same old man

AND......

LET'S GIVE THIS LOVE A TRY

Sometimes I don't like bein' where I am.... no matter what
I'd rather be in a barrel of kosher salt and pickle brine... with a thousand paper cuts
I'm uncomfortable in my own skin you might say... feelin' my own guts
So tell me somethin' about yourself sweetheart... before I screw this whole thing up

You say you feel like a phony romancer... though you still believe in love
Make you feel like a dancer, like you got all the answers...Leave you wonderin' what you were made of
You don't see no chain mail hidin' puppy dog tails...I've been sufficiently horrified
I've got just enough left to wanna see what's next... Why don't we give this love a try?

Let's give this love a try
All we can do is cry
Hang out your tears to dry
Let's try this love
Let's give this love a try
The sun's setting in your eyes
I'm all out of when and why's
Let's try this love

I never met two people more likely to explode... Scattered, chopped, screwed, covered up and smothered into each other's arms
Please forgive me my basic negativity... God help us both if you find it even part of my charm
By the way you swept me off my feet with the gentleness of an Angel flying by...
I'm a longshot baby but they do come in.... why don't we give this love a try

I'll admit I fantasize my husband has these feelings, but, how would I ever know? :-\ John Hiatt wrote the great song ANGEL FROM MONTGOMERY which I've performed many times....

Here's another John Hiatt lyric from the same album...

SOMEBODY HURT MY BABY

No need to be explicit... Anyone can see
The injury was permanent.. The wound was really deep
Doesn't talk about it much... I listen when she does
And when she's in that distant place... I know it's just because

Somebody hurt... my Baby...
Somebody hurt... my Girl
Somebody hurt... my Baby
Somebody hurt... In this mean ol' world

She's developed all these nervous tics... to prove she's still alive
Does 90 down to zero... back in overdrive
Her sleep is just a nightmare state... she really gets no rest
'til someone has come forward... 'til one of us confess

Somebody hurt... my Baby
Somebody hurt... my Girl
Somebody hurt... my Baby
Somebody hurt... in this mean ol' world

The Skillet CD Awake came out right around the same time my H went into his little world shutting the rest of us out. I found A LOT of solace in this CD. There are songs on here about changing your life, infidelity, missing your loved one, etc. One song stands out among them all. It's my "hello you have every right to be angry" song. When I'm feeling particulary ticked off by his actions, I play this song and sing it as loud as I can. I visualize myself saying the words in this song to him. What's even more ironic about the timing of this CD's release, is that my H can't stand to listen to them. Huh, reality check maybe?

It's Not Me, It's You

Let's get the story straight
You were a poison
You flooded through my veins
You left me broken
You tried to make me think
That the blame was all on me
With the pain you put me through
And now I know that it's not me it's you

It's not me it's you
Always has been you
All the lies and stupid things you say and do
It's you
It's not me it's you
All the lies and pain you put me through
I know that it's not me it's you
You
You
It's not me it's you, you

So here we go again
The same fight we're always in
I don't care so why pretend
Wake me when your lecture ends
You tried to make me small
Make me fall and it's all your fault
With the pain you put me through
And now I know that it's not me it's you

Let's get the story straight
You were a poison
Flooding through my veins
Driving me insane
And now you're gone away
I'm no longer choking
From the pain you put me through
And now I know that it's not me it's you

Even though he's still in my life, this song helps me get my frustrations out and remind me that this is his issue, not mine. It affects our lives, but I can choose to not let his actions be a poison to me.

Not about MLC but about what LBS might feel

On My Own (from Les Miserables)

And now I'm all alone again nowhere to turn, no one to go to
without a home without a friend without a face to say hello to
And now the night is near
Now I can make believe he's here

Sometimes I walk alone at night
When everybody else is sleeping
I think of him and then I'm happy
With the company I'm keeping
The city goes to bed
And I can live inside my head

On my own
Pretending he's beside me
All alone
I walk with him till morning
Without him
I feel his arms around me
And when I lose my way I close my eyes
And he has found me

In the rain the pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me forever and forever

And I know it's only in my mind
That I'm talking to myself and not to him
And although I know that he is blind
Still I say, there's a way for us

I love him
But when the night is over
He is gone
The river's just a river
Without him
The world around me changes
The trees are bare and everywhere
The streets are full of strangers

I love him
But every day I'm learning
All my life
I've only been pretending
Without me
His world would go on turning
A world that's full of happiness
That I have never known

I love him
I love him
I love him
But only on my own

I found a good one "For the First Time"

She's all laid up in bed with a broken heart
While i'm drinking jack all alone in my local bar
And we don't know how we got into this mad situation
Only doing things out of frustration

Trying to make it work but man these times are hard
She needs me now but I can't seem to find a time
I've git a new job now in the umemploymentline
And we don't know we got into this mess it's a gods test
Someone hulp us cause we're doing our best

Trying to make it work but man these times are hard
But we're gunna start by drinking old cheap bottles of wine
Sit talking up all night
Saying things we haven't for a while, a while yeah
We're smiling but we're close to tears
Even after all these years
We just now got the feeling that we're meeting
For the first time

She's in line at the door with her head held high
While I just lost my job but didn't lose my flight
But we both know how we're gonna make it work when it hurts
When you pick yourself up you get kicked in the dirt

Trying to make it work but man these times are hard
But we're gunna start by drinking old cheap bottles of wine
Saying things we haven't for a while, a while yeah
We're smiling but we're close to tears
The Script For The First Time lyrics found on http://www.directlyrics.com/the-script-for-the-first-time-lyrics.html

Even after all these years
We just now got the feeling that we're meeting
For the first time

Drinking old cheap bottles of wine
Saying things we haven't for a while, a while yeah
We're smiling but we're close to tears
Even after all these years
We just now got the feeling that we're meeting
For the first time
For the first time
Oh, for the first time
Yeah, for the first time

Oh these times are hard
Yeah they're making us crazy
Don't give up on me baby
Oh these times are hard
Yeah they're making us crazy
Don't give up on me baby

Evening all,
I recently bought the album 21 by Adele - it has blown me away - there are 2 songs one of them is Rolling in the Deep - try and listen to it:-

There's a fire starting in my heart,
Reaching a fever pitch and it's bring me out the dark,

Finally, I can see you crystal clear,
Go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your sheet bare,
See how I'll leave with every piece of you,
Don't underestimate the things that I will do,

There's a fire starting in my heart,
Reaching a fever pitch and it's bring me out the dark,

The scars of your love remind me of us,
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all,
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless,
I can't help feeling,

We could have had it all,
(You're gonna wish you never had met me),
Rolling in the deep,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
You had my heart inside of your hands,
(You're gonna wish you never had met me),
And you played it to the beat,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

Baby, I have no story to be told,
But I've heard one on you and I'm gonna make your head burn,
Think of me in the depths of your despair,
Make a home down there as mine sure won't be shared,

The scars of your love remind me of us,
(You're gonna wish you never had met me),
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless,
(You're gonna wish you never had met me),
I can't help feeling,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

We could have had it all,
(You're gonna wish you never had met me),
Rolling in the deep,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
You had my heart inside of your hands,

[ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/rolling-in-the-deep-lyrics-adele.html ]

(You're gonna wish you never had met me),
And you played it to the beat,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

Could have had it all,
Rolling in the deep,
You had my heart inside of your hands,
But you played it with a beating,

Throw your soul through every open door,
Count your blessings to find what you look for,
Turn my sorrow into treasured gold,
You'll pay me back in kind and reap just what you've sown,

(You're gonna wish you never had met me),
We could have had it all,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
We could have had it all,
(You're gonna wish you never had met me),
It all, it all, it all,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

We could have had it all,
(You're gonna wish you never had met me),
Rolling in the deep,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
You had my heart inside of your hands,
(You're gonna wish you never had met me),
And you played it to the beat,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),

Could have had it all,
(You're gonna wish you never had met me),
Rolling in the deep,
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep),
You had my heart inside of your hands,

But you played it,
You played it,
You played it,
You played it to the beat.

THE SECOND SONG is Set Fire to the Rain

I let it fall, my heart,
And as it fell, you rose to claim it,
It was dark and I was over,
Until you kissed my lips and you saved me,
My hands, they were strong, but my knees were far too weak,
To stand in your arms without falling to your feet,

But there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew,
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true,
And the games you'd play, you would always win, always win,

But I set fire to the rain,
Watched it pour as I touched your face,
Well, it burned while I cried,
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name,

When laying with you I could stay there,
Close my eyes, feel you here forever,
You and me together, nothing is better,

'Cause there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew,
All the things you'd say, they were never true, never true,
And the games you's play, you would always win, always win,

But I set fire to the rain,
Watched it pour as I touched your face,
Well, it burned while I cried,

[ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/set-fire-to-the-rain-lyrics-adele.html ]

'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
I set fire to the rain,
And I threw us into the flames,
Well, I felt something die,
'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time,

Sometimes I wake up by the door,
And heard you calling, must be waiting for you,
Even that when we're already over,
I can't help myself from looking for you,

I set fire to the rain,
Watched it pour as I touch your face,
Well, it burned while I cried,
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
I set fire to the rain,
And I threw us into the flames,
Well, I felt something die,
'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time, oh,
Oh, no,
Let it burn, oh,
Let it burn,
Let it burn.

She has such an amazing voice - I feel powerful and uplifted when i sing these 2 songs

((hugs))

Chloe,

I love Skillet. I listen to them all the time. I had been listening to them for awhile and my S10 told me they were a Christian Rock bank. That made me love them all them the more!

That's amazing RCR I have that movie, Middle Aged Crazy!  My h sent that to me way back in 2006.  He said it portrayed how he felt.  He asked me to watch it, which of course I did.

It just made me feel sad.  Our children were furious, they thought it was just another "ploy" to string me along. Personally, I believed my h when he said the movie depicted his confusion.  Definitely, he was trying to keep his anchor holding and it did work for a few more weeks.

Everybody has their limits.  I reached mine as I said a couple of weeks after watching that movie.  I concluded that there was nothing I could do about him.  I washed my hands of him and got busy rebuilding my life.  I truly felt our marriage was over.

Yes, I have heard that song and I have seen the movie.

Stayed

Air supply: All out of Love

I'm lying alone with my head on the phone
Thinking of you till it hurts
I know you hurt too but what else can we do
Tormented and torn apart
I wish I could carry your smile and my heart
For times when my life feels so low
It would make me believe what tomorrow could bring
When today doesn't really know, doesn't really know

Chorus:
I 'm all out of love, I'm so lost without you
I know you were right believing for so long
I 'm all out of love, what am I without you
I can't be too late to say that I was so wrong

I want you to come back and carry me home
Away from this long lonely nights
I'm reaching for you, are you feeling it too
Does the feeling seem oh so right
And what would you say if I called on you now
And said that I can't hold on
There's no easy way, it gets harder each day
Please love me or I'll be gone, I'll be gone

Chorus

Oh, what are you thinking of?
What are you thinking of?
Oh, what are you thinking of?
What are you thinking of?

Boulevard of Broken Dreams
~ Green Day

        I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
        Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

        I walk this empty street
On the boulevard of broken dreams
        Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone
I walk alone I walk alone
        I walk alone I walk a-

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
        'Till then I walk alone

        I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line of the edge
        And where I walk alone

        Read between the lines
What's f----- up and everythings all right
Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive
        And I walk alone

I walk alone I walk alone
        I walk alone I walk a-

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
        'Till then I walk alone

        I walk this empty street
On the boulevard of broken dreams
        Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a-

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
        'Till then I walk alone

Top of the World by the Dixie Chicks
I feel like the the little song bird with the broken wings.

I wished I was smarter
I wished I was stronger
I wished I loved Jesus
The way my wife does
I wish it had been easier
Instead of any longer
I wished I could have stood where you would have been proud
But that won't happen now
That won't happen now

[chorus]
There's a whole lot of singing that's never gonna be heard
Disappearing everyday without so much as a word somehow
Think I broke the wings off that little song bird
She's never gonna fly to the top of the world right now

Top of the world

I don't have to answer any of these questions
Don't have no God to teach me no lessons
I come home in the evening
Sit in my chair
One night they called me for supper
But I never got up
I stayed right there in my chair

[chorus]

I wished I'd a known you
Wished I'd a shown you
All of the things I was on the inside
I'd pretend to be sleeping
When you come in in the morning
To whisper good-bye
Go to work in the rain
I don't know why
Don't know why

'Cause everyone's singing
We just wanna be heard
Disappearing everyday without so much as a word somehow
Wanna grab a hold of that little song bird
Take her for a ride to the top of the world right now
To the top of the world
To the top of the world
To the top of the world
To the top of the world
To the top of the world

This song fits right into how I have been feeling..

Jerrod Niemann: What do you want from me

Why’d you call me today with nothing new to say?
You pretend it’s just hello, but you know what it does to me to see your number on the phone.

Now tell me, what do you want? What do you want? What do you want from me?
Are you tryin’ to bring back the tears or just the memories?
You keep takin’ me back, takin’ me back where I’ve already been.
When we hang up it’s almost like I’m losing you again.
Can’t you see? So what do you want, what do you want from me?

I get so tired of living like this.
I don’t have the time, neither do my friends,
To stay up at night, to pull me through,
And to find the things to keep my mind off of you.

So, now tell me, what do you want? What do you want? What do you want from me?
Did you call to say you’ve found someone and I’m a used- to- be.
You keep takin’ me back, takin’ me back where I’ve already been.
If you’ve moved on why does it feel like I’m losing you again?
Can’t you see? So what do you want? What do you want from me?

What do you want me to say?
That I’m content? That I’m on the fence? That I wish you would’ve stayed?

Oh baby what do you want, what do you want, what do you want from me?
To come here and make love tonight cause you’re feelin’ lonely.
You keep takin’ me back, takin’ me back where I’ve already been.
When we wake up and say goodbye it’s like I’m losing you again.
Can’t you see? So what do you want, what do you want from me?
What do you want, what do you want from me?

Since My H is a clinging boomerang...Every word of this rings true for me.
Beautiful Song.

Is it always going to feel like this?????

One by Three Dog Night

One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad as one
It's the loneliest number since the number one

No is the saddest experience you'll ever know
Yes, it's the saddest experience you'll ever know
`Cause one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest number, worse than two

It's just no good anymore since she went away
Now I spend my time just making rhymes of yesterday

One is the loneliest, number one is the loneliest
Number one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest, one is the loneliest
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
It's just no good anymore since she went away
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do

Great Song for Valentine's Day..really, belt it out..made me feel better! ;D

Heartbreak Hotel lyrics
Songwriters: Presley, Elvis; Axton, Mae; Durden, Tommy;

Well, since my baby left me
Well, I found a new place to dwell
Well, it's down at the end of Lonely Street
At Heartbreak Hotel

Well, I'll be
I'll be so lonely baby
Well, I'm so lonely
I'll be so lonely, I could die

Oh, although it's always crowded
You still can find some room
For broken hearted lovers
To cry there in their gloom

They'll be so
They'll be so lonely, baby
Well, they're so lonely
They're so lonely, they could die

Now, the bell hop's tears keep flowin'
And the desk clerk's dressed in black
Well, they been so long on Lonely Street
{ From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/e/elvis-presley-lyrics/heartbreak-hotel-lyrics.html }
They'll never ever look back

And it's so
Well, it's so lonely baby
Well, they're so lonely
Well, they're so lonely, they could've die

Well, if your baby leaves you
You got a tale to tell
Well, just take a walk down Lonely Street
To Heartbreak Hotel

Where you will be
You'll be so lonely, baby
Well you'll be lonely
You'll be so lonely you could die

Oh, although it's always crowded
You still can find some room
For broken hearted lovers
To cry there in their gloom

They've been so
They're be so lonely, baby
Well, they're so lonely
They'll be so lonely, they could die

"Train In Vain" Annie Lennox

They say you stand by your man
Tell me something I don't understand
You said you loved me and that's a fact
And then you left me said you felt trapped
Well, some things you can explain away
But the heartache's with me till this day

Did you stand by me?
No, not at all.
Did you stand by me?
No way.

All the times that we were close
I remember these things the most
I've seen all my dreams come tumblin' down
I can't be happy without you around
So alone I keep the wolves a bay
And there's only one thing I can say

You didn't stand by me
No, not at all.
You didn't stand by me
No way.

You must explain
Why this must be
Did you lie
When you spoke to me?

Did you stand by me?
No, not at all.

Now I got a job but it don't pay
I need new clothes I need somewhere to stay
But without all these things I can do
Without your love (- LOVE!) I won't make it through
(Without you love I won't make it through)
But you don't understand my point of view
I suppose there's nothing I can do

(You) didn't stand by me
No, not at all.
You didn't stand by me
No way.

You must explain
Why this must be
Did you lie
When you spoke to me?

Stand by me, no way
Stand by me, not at all
Stand by me, no way
Stand by me, not at all
Stand by me, no way

Christine Aguilera

After all you put me through
You'd think I'd despise you
But in the end I wanna thank you
'Cause you made that much stronger

Well I thought I knew you
Thinking that you were true
Guess I, I couldn't trust called your bluff
Time is up, 'cause I've had enough

You were there by my side
Always down for the ride
But your joy ride just came down in flames
'Cause your greed sold me out in shame, mmm hmm

After all of the stealing and cheating
You probably think that
I hold resentment for you
But uh uh, oh no, you're wrong

'Cause if it wasn't for all
That you tried to do
I wouldn't know just how capable I am to pull through
So I wanna say thank you

'Cause it
Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter

Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

Never saw it coming
All of your backstabbing
Just so, you could cash in on a good thing
Before I'd realized your game

I heard you're going 'round
Playin' the victim now
But don't even begin feelin' I'm the one to blame
'Cause you dug your own grave

After all of the fights and the lies
Guess you're wanting to hurt me
But that won't work anymore
No more, uh uh, it's over

'Cause if it wasn't for all of your torture
[ From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/c/christina-aguilera-lyrics/fighter-lyrics.html  ]
I wouldn't know how to be this way now
And never back down
So I wanna say thank you

'Cause it
Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter

Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

How could this man I thought I know
Turn out to be unjust so cruel?
Could only see the good in you
Pretended not to see the truth

You tried to hide your lies
Disguise yourself through
Living in denial
But in the end you'll see
You won't stop me

I am a fighter
  (I'm a fighter)
I ain't gonna stop
  (I ain't gonna stop)
There is no turning back
I've had enough

Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter

Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

Thought I would forget
But I, I remember
Yes I remember
I'll remember

Thought I would forget
But I remember
Yes I remember
I'll remember

Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter

Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

I wonder if it would have any effect.  Our men prided themselves on their honour, integrity and this is what has become of them.

Just heard this one.  Kind of a pick-me-up.  More about a the left behind partner moving forward than about MLC, but fun.  Made me dance a bit.
 ;)

"Merry Happy"
by Kate Nash

Watching me like you never watch no one
Don't tell me that you didn't try and check out my bum
Cause I know that you did
Cause your friend told me that you liked it

Gave me those pearls and I thought they were ugly
Though you try to tell me that you never loved me
I know that you did
'Cause you said it and you wrote it down

Dancing at discos
Eating cheese on toast
Yeah you make me merry make me very very happy
But you obviously, you didn't want to stick around

Dancing at discos
Eating cheese on toast
Yeah you make me merry make me very very happy
But you obviously, you didn't want to stick around

So I learnt from you
Do do do da do do do do do da do do do do do da do
So I learnt form you
Do do do da do do do do do da do do do do do da do

I can be alone, yeah
I can watch a sunset on my own
I can be alone, yeah
I can watch a sunset on my own
I can be alone
I can watch a sunset on my own

I can be alone, yeah
I can watch a sunset on my own
I can be alone, yeah
I can watch a sunset on my own
I can be alone
I can watch a sunset on my own

Sitting in restaurants
Thought we were so grown up
But I know now that we were not the people
That we turned out to be

Chatting on the phone
Can't take back those hours
But I won't regret
'Cause you can grow flowers
From where dirt used to be

Dancing at discos
Eating cheese on toast
Yeah you make me merry make me very very happy
But you obviously, you didn't want to stick around

Dancing at discos
Eating cheese on toast
Yeah you make me merry make me very very happy
But you obviously, you didn't want to stick around

So I learnt from you
Do do do da do do do do do da do do do do do da do
So I learnt from you
Do do do da do do do do do da do do do do do da do

I can be alone, yeah
I can watch a sunset on my own
I can be alone, yeah
I can watch a sunset on my own
I can be alone
I can watch a sunset on my own
(do do do da do do do do do da do do do do do da do)

I can be alone, yeah
I can watch a sunset on my own
I can be alone, yeah
I can watch a sunset on my own
I can be alone
I can watch a sunset on my own
(do do do da do do do do do da do do do do do da do)

My husband's favorite....

Lyrics to Little Lion Man :

Weep for yourself, my man,
You'll never be what is in your heart
Weep Little Lion Man,
You're not as brave as you were at the start
Rate yourself and rake yourself,
Take all the courage you have left
Wasted on fixing all the problems
That you made in your own head

But it was not your fault but mine
And it was your heart on the line
I really firetrucked it up this time
Didn't I, my dear?
Didn't I, my...

Tremble for yourself, my man,
You know that you have seen this all before
Tremble Little Lion Man,
You'll never settle any of your scores
Your grace is wasted in your face,
Your boldness stands alone among the wreck
Now learn from your mother or else spend your days Biting your own neck

But it was not your fault but mine
And it was your heart on the line
I really firetrucked it up this time
Didn't I, my dear? (x2)

Didn't I, my dear?

Ahhhhh......

But it was not your fault but mine
And it was your heart on the line
I really firetrucked it up this time
Didn't I, my dear? (x2)

Didn't I, my dear?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1_B9FCZJMA

I see you driving ’round town
With the girl i love and i’m like,
F**k you!
Oo, oo, ooo
I guess the change in my pocket
Wasn’t enough i’m like,
F**k you!
And f*ck her too!
I said, if i was richer, i’d still be with ya
Ha, now ain’t that some $hit? (ain’t that some $hit?)
And although there’s pain in my chest
I still wish you the best with a…
F**k you!
Oo, oo, ooo
Yeah i’m sorry, i can’t afford a ferrari,
But that don’t mean i can’t get you there.
I guess he’s an xbox and i’m more atari,
But the way you play your game ain’t fair.
I pity the fool that falls in love with you
(oh $hit she’s a gold digger)
Well
(just thought you should know nigga)
Ooooooh
I’ve got some news for you
Yeah go run and tell your little boyfriend
http://www.hotnewsonglyrics.com/cee-lo-green-forget-you-lyrics.html
Now i know, that i had to borrow,
Beg and steal and lie and cheat.
Trying to keep ya, trying to please ya.
‘Cause being in love with you ass ain’t cheap.
I pity the fool that falls in love with you
(oh $hit she’s a gold digger)
Well
(just thought you should know nigga)
Ooooooh
I’ve got some news for you
Yeah go run and tell your little boyfriend
Now baby, baby, baby, why d’you wanna wanna hurt me so bad?
(so bad, so bad, so bad)
I tried to tell my mamma but she told me

A LITTLE TIME
I need a little time,
To think it over,
I need a little space,
Just on my own
I need a little time
To find my freedom
I need a little time.........

Funny how quick the milk turns sour, isn't it, isn't it ?
Your face has been looking like that for hours, hasn't it, hasn'tit?
Promises, promises turn to dust
Wedding bells just turn to rust
Trust into mis-trust

I need a little room
To find myself
I need a little space
To work it out
I need a little room
All alone
I need a little..........

Need a little room for your big head, don't ya, don't ya?
Need a little space for a thousand beds, won't you, won't you?
Lips that promise feel the worst
Tounge so sharp the bubble bursts
Just into un-just

I had a little time
To find the truth
I had a little room
To check whats wrong
I need a little time
I still love you
I need a little..........

Had a little time and you had a little fun, didn't ya, didn'tya?
Well you had yours do you think I had none, do ya, do ya?
The freedom that you wanted so bad
Is yours for good, I hope your glad
Sad into un-sad

I had a little time
To think it over
Had a little room
To work it out
I found a little courage
To call it off

I had a little time x4

Relient K -  "This is the End"
Love these guys. This whole album is about a breakup.
Lots of passion. Christian Band. Great Piano on this song.
Not a great message for "Standing", but great when you are ticked and ready to DETACH.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2XtEUGh3gw

I can't keep a straight face and say this is not the end
Not if you want it, it's upon us and I wanna say it's sinking in
If I was hasty maybe I was rushed along
I won't move into little boxes and then not get the itch to move on

So think real slow
Don't forget that yes is yes and no is no
Melting prints of grass and snow
Means I may forget the way to get back home

Cause this is the end if you want it
This is the end

You're not the first thing in my life I've loved and lost
Yeah I've thought worse things that I might be less inclined to merely just shrug off
You'll take me home
Like my family did, my father did, I know
You'll think real slow
But don't forget the speed that I can go, away

Cause this is the end if you want it
This is the end

I've been convincing myself that I'm worthwhile             (This part always moves me.)
'Cause I'm worth what I'll convince myself to be (2x)

I met the devil and I stared her in the eyes
Her hair had scales like silver serpents. I, a statue, stood there mesmerised
I took the fire escape and made it out alive
Yeah I still burn from time to time but I've a healing hand against my side

Blisters on my feet I crawl back home
Frozen from the sleet burned sand and stones
Nourished back to life by life alone
With one shake of the mane regain the throne

This one’s a good song for when it gets time to make some popcorn and watch your crazy MLCer spin out of control…

“The Show”
By Lenka

I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I don't know where to go I can't do it alone I've tried
And I don't know why

Slow it down
Make it stop--
Or else my heart is going to pop
'Cause it's too much
Yeah, it's a lot
To be something I'm not

I'm a fool
Out of love
'Cause I just can't get enough

I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I don't know where to go I can't do it alone I've tried
And I don't know why

I am just a little girl lost in the moment
I'm so scared but I don't show it
I can't figure it out
It's bringing me down I know
I've got to let it go
And just enjoy the show

The sun is hot
In the sky
Just like a giant spotlight
The people follow the signs
And synchronize in time
It's a joke
Nobody knows
They've got a ticket to that show
Yeah

I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I dont know where to go, can't do it alone I've tried
And I don't know why

I am just a little girl lost in the moment
I'm so scared but I don't show it
I can't figure it out
It's bringing me down I know
I've got to let it go
And just enjoy the show oh oh oh

Just enjoy the show oh oh oh

I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I dont know where to go I can't do it alone I've tried
And I don't know why

I am just a little girl lost in the moment
I'm so scared but I don't show it
I can't figure it out
It's bringing me down I know
I've got to let it go
And just enjoy the show oh oh oh

Just enjoy the show

dum de dum
dudum de dum

Just enjoy the show

dum de dum
dudum de dum

Just enjoy the show

I want my money back
I want my money back
I want my money back

Just enjoy the show

I want my money back
I want my money back
I want my money back

Just enjoy the show

Time to Say Goodbye

When I'm alone I dream of the horizon and words fail me.
There is no light in a room where there is no sun
and there is no sun if you're not here with me, with me.
From every window unfurls my heart the heart that you have won.
Into me you've poured the light,
the light that you found by the side of the road.

Time to say goodbye.
Places that I've never seen or experienced with you.
Now I shall, I'll sail with you upon ships across the seas,
seas that exist no more,
it's time to say goodbye.

Andrea Bocelli
When you're far away I dream of the horizon and words fail me.
And of course I know that you're with me, with me.
You, my moon, you are with me.
My sun, you're here with me with me, with me, with me.

Time to say goodbye.
Places that I've never seen or experienced with you.
Now I shall, I'll sail with you upon ships across the seas,
seas that exist no more,

Both
I'll revive them with you.
I'll go with you upon ships across the seas,
seas that exist no more,
I'll revive them with you.
I'll go with you.

You and me.

I have to say that I'm pretty much convinced that the "angst" of dramatic "love" which is prevalent in all popular songs, is appropriate to describe MLC feelings. MLCS "feelings" are those same feeling you had as a preteen or teen.... if you don't believe me,, go back and read some of your overmelodramatice diaries.

As  a professional singer and songwriter, I have to admit that as soon as I started living REAL LIFE and having my children, I dried up as a songwriter. One would think I would be full of inspiration now, but I'm not. That's because REAL LIFE does NOT have anything to do with the songs we hear on the radio, no matter how we wish to relate or how they move us to tears.

I guess I'm an old Scrooge now, BUT, I will also say that the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" is a perfect example of MidLife angst, depression, anger and transition as any you could find! It also resonates with my husband, who only saw it for the first time about 5 years ago. I planned on him watching it again at Christmas, but he was eating beans and rice at OW's. Sorry.... that was ugly of me. 8)

I admit, however, that I respond to certain lyrics and have posted them here.... I am sentimental. ;)

Letting Go ... a song about standing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEomXYXbCSY&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEomXYXbCSY&feature=related)

Wonderful Life - by Black

Here I go out to sea again
The sunshine fills my hair
And dreams hang in the air
Gulls in the sky and in my blue eyes
You know it feels unfair
There's magic everywhere

Look at me standing
Here on my own again
Up straight in the sunshine

No need to run and hide
It's a wonderful, wonderful life
No need to laugh and cry
It's a wonderful, wonderful life

-----------------

I'm glad that you're sentimental.

Which also explains why W is all about the radio right now. You should see her flip the channels, and get excited when her new favorite sex-rap artist plays that song that she loves now. And she's all about MTV, on all the time. She is identifying with the teen-emotions. She is giving full tilt to her emotions, that she "bottled" up for so many years (really?!?). Yeah, no more christian music for her. What's more troubling, is seeing her sing-along-with-my-pre-teen. Neither of whom I think should be listening to that garbage. W even told me "now I can listen to whatever I want".

Eleanor Rigby lyrics
Songwriters: Mccartney, Paul; Lennon, John;

Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor Rigby, picks up the rice
In the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream

Waits at the window, wearing the face
That she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?

All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?

Father McKenzie, writing the words
of a sermon that no one will hear
No one comes near

Look at him working, darning his socks
In the night when there's nobody there
What does he care?
[ From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/b/beatles-lyrics/eleanor-rigby-lyrics.html]

All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?

Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor Rigby, died in the church
And was buried along with her name
Nobody came

Father McKenzie, wiping the dirt
From his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved

All the lonely people
(Ah, look at all the lonely people)
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
(Ah, look at all the lonely people)
Where do they all belong?

I've Made a Mess of Me - Switchfoot

I am my own affliction
I am my own disease
There ain't no drug that they could sell
Oh, there ain't no drug to make me well

(There ain't no drug)
There ain't no drug
There ain't no drug
It's not enough
The sickness is myself

I've made a mess of me
I want to get back the rest of me
I've made a mess of me
I want to spend the rest of my life alive
I've made a mess of me
I want to get back the rest of me
I've made a mess of me
I want to spend the rest of my life alive
The rest of my life alive

We lock our souls in cages
We hide inside our shells
It's hard to free the ones you love
Oh, when you can't forgive yourself
Yeah, forgive yourself

(There ain't no drug)
There ain't no drug
There ain't no drug
The sickness is myself

I've made a mess of me
I want to get back the rest of me
I've made a mess of me
I want to spend the rest of my life alive
I've made a mess of me
I want to reverse this tragedy
I've made a mess of me
I want to spend the rest of my life alive
The rest of my life alive

Oh, right
And there ain't no drug
There ain't no drug
There ain't no drug
No drug to make me well
There ain't no drug
It's not enough
I'm breaking up
The sickness is myself
The sickness is myself

I've made a mess of me
I want to get back the rest of me
I've made a mess of me
I want to spend the rest of my life alive
I've made a mess of me
I want to reverse this tragedy
I've made a mess of me
I want to spend the rest of my life alive
The rest of my life alive

Your Biggest Mistake - Ellie Goulding

Take cover
Signs don't show
You drove me off the road
But you let go
'Cause your hope is gone
And every question fades away

It's a shame you don't know what you're running from
Would your bones have to break
And your lights turn off
Would it take the end of time
To hear your heart's false start?

You know this is your biggest mistake
What a waste, what a waste, what a waste
And of all the things you never explained
You know this is your biggest mistake

You tread water
Fighting for the air in your lungs
Move, move closer
Maybe you can right all your wrongs
But you let go
'Cause your hope is gone
And every answer fades away

It's a shame you don't know what you're running from
Would your bones have to break
And your lights turn off
Would it take the end of time
To hear your heart's false start?

You know this is your biggest mistake
What a waste, what a waste, what a waste
And of all the things you never explained
You know this is your biggest mistake

Wipe the mud spray from your face
Stop the engine, stop pretending
Wipe the mud spray from your face
Stop the engine
Stop pretending that you're still breathing

It's a shame you don't know what you're running from
Would your bones have to break
And your lights turn off
Would it take the end of time
To hear your heart's false start?

You know this is your biggest mistake
What a waste, what a waste, what a waste
And of all the things you never explained
You know this is your biggest mistake.

Trusting,
I love Switchfoot.

Chloe1977 & Still,
Thanks for turning me to Skillet.
D11 likes them a lot, and we listened to the whole album yesterday.
This is D11's favorite song about our sit. We have both woken-up in the morning thinking it was a dream, and then -bam- right back to the painful reality. Sad to think that she feels this song, Sad to see her pain in all of this too. Only 11.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0PMrV7derw

Skillet: Don't Wake Me

I went to bed I was thinking about you
Ain't the same since I'm living without you
All the memories are getting colder
All the things that I wanna do over
Went to bed I was thinking about you
I wanna talk and laugh like we used to
When I see you in my dreams at night
It's so real but it's in my mind

[Pre:]
And now
I guess
This is as good as it gets

[Chorus:]
Don't wake me
'Cause I don't wanna leave this dream
Don't wake me
'Cause I never seem to stay asleep enough
When it's you I'm dreaming of
I don't wanna wake up
Don't wake me
We're together just you and me
Don't wake me
'Cause we're happy like we used to be
I know I've gotta let you go
But don't wake me

I went to bed I was thinking about you
And how it felt when I finally found you
It's like a movie playing over in my head
Don't wanna look 'cause i know how it ends
All the words that I said that I wouldn't say
All the promises I made that I wouldn't break
It's last call, last song, last dance
'Cause I can't get you back, can't get a second chance

And now, I guess
This is as good as it gets

[Chorus]

[Bridge:]
These dreams of you keep on growing stronger
It ain't a lot but it's all I have
Nothing to do but keep sleeping longer
Don't wanna stop cause I want you back

[Chorus]

I went to bed I was thinking about you
‘Cause I don’t wanna leave this dream
It ain’t the same since I’m living without you.
‘Cause I never seem to stay asleep enough
I know I’ve gotta let you go
But I don’t wanna wake up.

Mine by Ladt Antebellum
Need you Know
http://goo.gl/LQOv

Picture perfect memories
Scattered all around the floor
Reaching for the phone 'cause
I can't fight it anymore

And I wonder if I
Ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time

It's a quarter after one
I'm all alone
And I need you now
Said I wouldn't call
But I've lost all control
And I need you now

And I don't know how
I can do without
I just need you now

Another shot of whiskey
Can't stop looking at the door
Wishing you'd come sweeping
In the way you did before

And I wonder if I
Ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time

It's a quarter after one
I'm a little drunk
And I need you now
Said I wouldn't call
But I've lost all control
And I need you now

And I don't know how
I can do without
I just need you now

Whoa, whoa
Guess I'd rather hurt
Than feel nothing at all

It's a quarter after one
I'm all alone
And I need you now
And I said I wouldn't call
But I'm a little drunk
And I need you now

And I don't know how
I can do without
I just need you now
I just need you now

Oh baby, I need you now

This performance of "someone like you"  by Adele came on the tv the other day while I was doing something else - it stopped me in my tracks and sent shivers up my spine - heartbreaking but a beautiful beautiful performance"Someone Like You"

I heard
That you're settled down
That you
Found a girl
And you're
Married now

I heard
That your dreams came true.
Guess she gave you things
I didn't give to you

Old friend
Why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back
Or hide from the light

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it.
I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
Don't forget me I beg
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead."
Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead,
Yeah.

You know how
The time flies
Only yesterday
It was the time of our lives
We were born and raised
In a summer haze
Bound by the surprise
Of our glory days

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it.
I had hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over, yeah.

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
Don't forget me I beg
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead"

Nothing compares
No worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes
And memories made.
Who would have known
How bittersweet
This would taste?

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too
Don't forget me I beg
I remember you said,
"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead"

Never mind
I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
Don't forget me I beg
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead"

Sometimes it lasts in love
But sometimes it hurts instead

Hi I think this is another one sums up MLC to me too ..........

Quote
"If Leaving Me Is Easy"

I read all the letters, I read each word that you've sent to me
And though it's past now, and the words start to fade
All the memories I have still remain

I've kept all the pictures, but I hide my feelings so no-one knows
Oh sure my friends all come round, but I'm in a crowd on my own
It's 'cos you're gone now, but your heart, still remains
And it'll be here if you come again

You see, I'd heard the rumours, I knew before you let me know
But I didn't believe it, not you,
No you would not let me go
Seems I was wrong, but I love, I love you the same
And that's the one thing that you can't take away but just remember...

If leaving me is easy,
Coming back is harder...

"Beautiful Disaster" By Kelley Clarkson

He drowns in his dreams
An exquisite extreme I know
He’s as damned as he seems
And more heaven than a heart could hold
And if I try to save him
My whole world could cave in
It just ain't right
It just ain't right

Oh and I don't know
I don't know what he's after
But he's so beautiful
Such a beautiful disaster
And if I could hold on
Through the tears and the laughter
Would it be beautiful?
Or just a beautiful disaster

He's magic and myth
As strong as what I believe
A tragedy with
More damage than a soul should see
And do I try to change him?
So hard not to blame him
Hold on tight
Hold on tight

Oh 'cause I don't know
I don't know what he's after
But he’s so beautiful
Such a beautiful disaster
And if I could hold on
Through the tears and the laughter
Would it be beautiful?
Or just a beautiful disaster

I'm longing for love and the logical
But he's only happy hysterical
I'm waiting for some kind of miracle
Waited so long
So long

He’s soft to the touch
But frayed at the end he breaks
He’s never enough
And still he's more than I can take

Oh 'cause I don't know
I don't know what he's after
But he's so beautiful
Such a beautiful disaster
And if I could hold on
Through the tears and the laughter
Would it be beautiful?
Or just a beautiful disaster

He’s beautiful
Such a beautiful disaster

Come Back to Me by David Cook

You say you gotta go and find yourself
You say that you're becoming someone else
Don't recognize the face in the mirror looking back at you

You say you're leaving as you look away
I know there's really nothing left to say
Just know i'm here whenever you need me i'll wait for you

So i'll let you go i'll set you free
And when you've seen what you need to see
When you find you come back to me

Take your time i won't go anywhere
Picture you with the wind in your hair
I'll keep your things right where you left them
I'll be here for you

Oh and i'll let you go i'll set your free
And when you've seen what you need to see
When you find you come back to me

And i hope you find everything that you need
I'll be right here waiting to see
You find you come back to me

I can't get close if you're not there
I can't get inside if there's no soul there
I can't face you i can't save you
It's something you'll have to do

So i'll let you go i'll set you free
And when you've seen what you need to see
When you find you come back to me
Come back to me

So i'll let you go i'll set you free
And when you've seen what you need to see
When you find you come back to me

And i hope you find everything that you need
I'll be right here waiting to see
You find you come back to me

You find you come back to me
When you find you come back to me
When you find you come back to me

I listened to this song while driving to school and suddenly, this song has taken on a totally different meaning than when I listened to it a long, long time ago...

"Worked It Out Wrong" by Chris Isaak

I don't have anything I got to do all day
Lie in bed and watch TV
I don't have anything that I need to say
I know that you're hurting too, I know you're all alone
I know that you're coming back, I worked it out wrong
Worked it out wrong
I'll be silent, I'll be strong
I'll wait for you to come to me
And I know it won't be long
I know that you're hurting too, I know you're all alone
I know that you're coming back, I worked it out wrong
I worked it out wrong

Time, time means nothing
No nothing, means nothing when you're gone
Baby I'm lonely, and I'm sorry
I was wrong
I worked it out wrong
I worked it out wrong

I know that you're hurting too, I know you're all alone
I know that you're coming back, I worked it out wrong
Worked it out wrong
Time, time means nothing
No nothing, means nothing when you're gone
I'm lonely and I'm sorry
I was wrong
Worked it out wrong
I worked it out wrong
I worked it out wrong

Another song, which expresses what my H said to me about 2 years ago. He said this song summed it up.

Lynyrd Skynyrd-Free Bird
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkTQUtx818w (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkTQUtx818w)

If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me
For I must be traveling on now
'Cause there's too many places I've got to see

But if I stayed here with you,GIRL
Things just couldn't be the same
'Cause I'm as free as a bird now
And this bird you cannot change

Ohohohohohhhhh
And the bird you cannot change
And this bird you cannot change
Lord knows I can’t change

Bye bye, baby, it's been a sweet love, yeah, yeah
Though this feeling I can't change
But please don't take it so badly
'Cause Lord knows I'm to blame

But if I stay here with you, GIRL
Things just couldn't be the same
Cause I'm as free as a bird now
And this bird you never change

Ohohohohohhhhh
And the bird you cannot change
And this bird you cannot change
Lord knows I can't change
Lord help me I can't change
Lord I can't change,
Won't you fly high, Free Bird, yeah

But "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac sounds much more like our MLers...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEi7GPkxfsE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEi7GPkxfsE)

Now here you go again
You say you want your freedom
Well who am I to keep you down
It's only right that you should
Play the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound
Of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat...drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
And what you lost...
And what you had...
And what you lost

Thunder only happens when it's raining
Players only love you when they're playing
Say...Women...they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean...you'll know

Now here I go again, I see the crystal visions
I keep my visions to myself
It's only me
Who wants to wrap around your dreams and...
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
Dreams of loneliness...
Like a heartbeat...drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had...
And what you lost
And what you had...
And what you lost

Thunder only happens when it's raining
Players only love you when they're playing
Say...Women...they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean...you'll know

My anthem!

White Flag by dido

I know you think that I shouldn't still love you,
Or tell you that.
But if I didn't say it, well I'd still have felt it
where's the sense in that?

I promise I'm not trying to make your life harder
Or return to where we were

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

I know I left too much mess and
destruction to come back again
And I caused nothing but trouble
I understand if you can't talk to me again
And if you live by the rules of "it's over"
then I'm sure that that makes sense

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

And when we meet
Which I'm sure we will
All that was there
Will be there still
I'll let it pass
And hold my tongue
And you will think
That I've moved on....

I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

Bumping this up on the night before I face the biggest fear of my life:

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

CHORUS
Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

You can bend but never break me
'cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul

CHORUS

I am woman watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin' arms across the land
But I'm still an embryo
With a long long way to go
Until I make my brother understand

Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong

FADE
I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman

I have had a lot of time to kill this weekend and I was looking up the lyrics for a few songs I wanted to send to my H.  Lately he just pisses me off.  I'm tired of being nice when all I ever get is monster, so I wanted to send him the oh so wise words of Taylor Swift...

You, with your words like knives and swords and weapons that you use against me
You have knocked me off my feet again got me feeling like I'm nothing
You, with your voice like nails on a chalkboard, calling me out when I'm wounded
You, pickin' on the weaker man

Well, you can take me down with just one single blow
But you don't know what you don't know

Someday I'll be living in a big old city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Why you gotta be so mean?

You, with your switching sides and your walk-by lies and your humiliation
You, have pointed out my flaws again as if I don't already see them
I'll walk with my head down trying to block you out 'cause I'll never impress you
I just wanna feel okay again

I'll bet you got pushed around, somebody made you cold
But the cycle ends right now 'cause you can't lead me down that road
And you don't know what you don't know

Someday I'll be living in a big old city
[- From :http://www.elyrics.net/read/t/taylor-swift-lyrics/mean-lyrics.html -]
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Why you gotta be so mean?

And I can see you years from now in a bar, talking over a football game
With that same big loud opinion but nobody's listening
Washed up and ranting about the same old bitter things
Drunk and grumbling on about how I can't sing

But all you are is mean
All you are is mean and a liar and pathetic and alone in life
And mean, and mean, and mean, and mean

But someday I'll be living in a big old city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean, yeah
Someday, I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Why you gotta be so mean?

Someday, I'll be, living in a big old city
(Why you gotta be so mean?)
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
(Why you gotta be so mean?)
Someday, I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
(Why you gotta be so mean?)
And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Why you gotta be so mean?

And one for inspiration--I never would have guessed that my most inspiring MLC survival song would come from a Disney teeny bopper, but I love this song Miley sings:

I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there's a voice inside my head saying
"You'll never reach it"

Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I'm not breaking

I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going
[From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/m/miley-cyrus-lyrics/the-climb-lyrics.html ]

And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on

'Cause there's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Somebody's gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!

Keep on moving, keep climbing
Keep the faith, baby
It's all about, it's all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, whoa

Oh please no more Adele!  ::) My W is playing '21' and '19' constantly. Ahhhhh!

The two albums from Irish band The Script are great and contain so many apt lyrics for the LBS:

eg: The Stander in the song "The Man Who Can't Be Moved":

Going back to the corner where I first saw you
Gonna camp in my sleeping bag, I'm not gonna move
Got some words on cardboard, got your picture in my hand
Saying if you see this girl can you tell her where I am

Some try to hand me money, they don't understand
I'm not broke I'm just a broken hearted man
I know it makes no sense, but what else can I do
How can I move on when I'm still in love with you

'Cause if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinking maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet
And you'd see me waiting for you on the corner of the street

So I'm not moving
I'm not moving

Policeman says son you can't stay here
I said there's someone I'm waiting for if it's a day, a month, a year
Gotta stand my ground even if it rains or snows
If she changes her mind this is the first place she will go

'Cause if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinking maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet
And you see me waiting for you on the corner of the street

So I'm not moving
I'm not moving
I'm not moving
I'm not moving

People talk about the guy
Who's waiting on a girl, oh whoa
There are no holes in his shoes
But a big hole in his world

Maybe I'll get famous as the man who can't be moved
And maybe you won't mean to but you'll see me on the news
And you'll come running to the corner
'Cause you'll know it's just for you

I'm the man who can't be moved
I'm the man who can't be moved

'Cause if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinking maybe you'll come back here to the place that we meet
Oh, you see me waiting for you on a corner of the street

So I'm not moving
('Cause if one day you wake up, find that you're missing me)
I'm not moving
(And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be)
I'm not moving
(Thinking maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet)
I'm not moving
(Oh, you see me waiting for you on a corner of the street)

Going back to the corner where I first saw you
Gonna camp in my sleeping bag, I'm not gonna move

Or the pain caused by the OM in the song "Breakeven":

I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing
Just praying to a God that I don't believe in
'cause I got time while she got freedom
'cause when a heart breaks no it don't break even

Her best days are some of my worst,
She finally met a man and a man who's gonna put her first
While I'm wide awake she's no trouble sleeping
'cause when a heart breaks no it don't break even, even
What am I supposed to do when the best part of me was always you, and
What am I supposed to say when I'm all choked up and you're ok
I'm falling to pieces yeah
I'm falling to pieces

They say that things happen for a reason
But no wise word's gonna stop the bleeding
'Cause she's moved on while I'm still grieving
And when a heart breaks no it don't break even, even ohhhh
And what am I gonna do when the best part of me was always you
And what am I supposed to say when I'm all choked up that you're ok
I'm falling to pieces, yea x2
I'm falling to pieces x2
(I'm still alive but the other one's leaving
'Cause when a heart breaks no it don't break even)

Oh you got his heart and my heart and none of the pain
you took his suitcase - I took the blame
Now I'm trying to make sense of what little remains
Oh cause you left me with no love in order to my name
I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing
Just praying to a God that I don't believe in
'Cause I got time while she got freedom
'Cause when a heart breaks no it don't break no it don't break no it don't break even

And what am I gonna do when the best part of me was always you
And what am I supposed to say when I'm all choked up that you're ok
I'm falling to pieces yeah x2
I'm falling to pieces x2
(I'm still alive but the other one's leaving.)
('Cos when a heart breaks no it don't break even)

Oh it don't break even no,ohh
it don't break even no, ohh
It don't break even no

"Home"

I'm staring out into the night,
Trying to hide the pain.
I'm going to the place where love
And feeling good don't ever cost a thing.
And the pain you feel's a different kind of pain.

Well I'm going home,
Back to the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me.
I'm not running from.
No, I think you got me all wrong.
I don't regret this life I chose for me.
But these places and these faces are getting old,
So I'm going home.
Well I'm going home.

The miles are getting longer, it seems,
The closer I get to you.
I've not always been the best man or friend for you.
But your love remains true.
And I don't know why.
You always seem to give me another try.

So I'm going home,
Back to the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me.
I'm not running from.
No, I think you got me all wrong.
I don't regret this life I chose for me.
But these places and these faces are getting old,

Be careful what you wish for,
'Cause you just might get it all.
You just might get it all,
And then some you don't want.
Be careful what you wish for,
'Cause you just might get it all.
You just might get it all, yeah.

Oh, well I'm going home,
Back to the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me.
I'm not running from.
No, I think you got me all wrong.
I don't regret this life I chose for me.
But these places and these faces are getting old.
I said these places and these faces are getting old,
So I'm going home.
I'm going home.

H played me this song about a year ago, and my tears just streamed down my face. Now I listen to it with more hope.

Listen on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvHNmx41fo0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvHNmx41fo0)

We're sliding through completely new beginnings.
We're searching out our every doubt and winning.
We want to be free, and yet we have no idea
Why we are struggling here, faced with our every fear
Just to survive.

We've heard the sound and come around to listening.
We've touched the vibe time after time insisting
We know what life means
Still we can’t find a way
From dues we’ve got to pay
We hope will somehow say
That we're alive.
Completely new,
Completely new beginnings.

I am very much a music fan. Music has always gotten me through the tough times in my life and being a LBS is no differant. I was listening to one of my favorite bands tonight (Pink Floyd) and began to listen to their excellent track "Coming back To Life from the album "The Division Bell"

I was struck by the lyrics, as to me it almost sounds like a LBS talking to his MLC'er.

Where were you when I was burned and broken
While the days slipped by from my window watching
Where were you when I was hurt and helpless
Because the things you say and the things you do surround me
While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words
Dying to believe in what you heard
I was staring straight into the shining sun

Lost in thought and lost in time
While the seeds of life and the seeds of change were planted
Outside the rain fell dark and slow
While I pondered on this dangerous but irresistible pastime
I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the moment had arrived
For killing the past and coming back to life

I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the waiting had begun
And headed straight..into the shining sun

To me it speaks of the LBS ready for his "waiting" for his spouse to come out of the tunnel, and that he is GAL while she is off on her own journey. The dangerous and irresistible pastime is of course loving ones spouse and Standing. "Killing the Past and coming back to life" is detaching and working on ones self.

Anyway, I just wondered if anyone else had any music that spoke to them in their crisis dealing with MLC

Hey Gull,

The funny thing is that while I was in Toys R Us last night, the song "What's up?' by the 4 Non-Blondes came on and the words are strikingly appropriate.

Twenty-five years I'm alive here still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
 For a destination

I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood of man
 For whatever that means

And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed Just to get it all out
 What's in my head
And I, I am feeling a little peculiar.

And so I wake in the morning
 And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
 What's going on?

And I say: HEY! yeah yeaaah, HEY yeah yea
I said hey, what's going on?

And I say: HEY! yeah yeaaah, HEY yeah yea
I said hey, what's going on?

ooh, ooh ooooooooooooooooh
 ooh, ooh ooooooooooooooooh

and I try, oh my god do I try
I try all the time, in this institution

And I pray, oh my god do I pray
 I pray all sanctity
 For a revolution.

And so I cry sometimes
 When I'm lying bed
Just to get it all out
 What's in my head
And I, I am feeling a little peculiar

And so I wake in the morning
 And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
 What's going on?

And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?

And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?

And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?

And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?

ooh, ooh ooooooooooooooooh ooooooooooooooooh

Twenty-five years I'm alive here still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
 for a destination

Warning:  This song used to be fun for me to sing, now it makes me cry almost every time.  Proceed with caution.

Don't Go Away Mad by Motley Crue

Oooo, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
One Time
Oooo, yeah,Oooooooo
We could sail away
Or catch a freight train
Or a rocketship into outer space
Nothin' left to do
Too many things were said
To ever make it feel
Like yesterday did

Seasons must change
Separate paths, separate ways
If we blame it on anything
Let's blame it on the rain

I knew it all along
I'd have to write this song
Too young to fall in love
Guess we knew it all along

That's alright, that's okay
We were walkin' through some youth
Smilin' through the pain
That's alright, that's okay
Let's turn the page

My friends called today
Down from L.A.
They were shooting pool all night
Sleeping half of the day
They said I could crash
If I could find my own way
I told them you were leaving
On a bus to go away

That's alright, that's okay
We were two kids in love
Trying to find our way
That's alright, that's okay
Held our dreams in our hands
Let our minds run away
That's alright, now that's okay
We were walkin' through some youth
Smilin' through the pain
That's alright, let's turn the page
And remember what I say girl
And it goes this way

Girl, don't go away mad
Girl, just go away
Girl, don't go away mad
Now girl, just go away
Here we go

Don't go away mad
I don't want you to stay, Yeah
Come on, girl

Come on, baby
I'll say it one more time

Girl, don't go away mad
Girl, just go away
Girl, don't go away mad
Girl, just go away yeah, yeah
Girl, don't go away mad
Girl, just go away, Yeah
Now I said girl, don't go away mad
Girl, just go away
Now I said girl, don't go away mad
Girl, just go away, yeah
Girl, don't go away mad
Girl, just go away...

How is this not on here already???

Runaway Train by Soul Asylum

Call you up in the middle of the night
Like a firefly without a light
You were there like a slow torch burning
I was a key that could use a little turning

So tired that I couldn't even sleep
So many secrets I couldn't keep
Promised myself I wouldn't weep
One more promise I couldn't keep

It seems no one can help me now
I'm in too deep
There's no way out
This time I have really led myself astray

CHORUS
Runaway train never going back
Wrong way on a one way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here no there

Can you help me remember how to smile
Make it somehow all seem worthwhile
How on earth did I get so jaded
Life's mystery seems so faded

I can go where no one else can go
I know what no one else knows
Here I am just drownin' in the rain
With a ticket for a runaway train

Everything is cut and dry
Day and night, earth and sky
Somehow I just don't believe it

CHORUS

Bought a ticket for a runaway train
Like a madman laughin' at the rain
Little out of touch, little insane
Just easier than dealing with the pain

Runaway train never comin' back
Runaway train tearin' up the track
Runaway train burnin' in my veins
Runaway but it always seems the same

And one for us LBSr's

Gloria Gaynor - I will survive

First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side
But I spent so many nights
thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on
and so you're back
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed my stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you'd be back to bother me

Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
you think I'd crumble
you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive

It took all the strength I had
not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend
the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect me to be free
now I'm saving all my loving
for someone who's loving me

Admittedly it happens in slow speed in MLC, but Billy is a good song about someone's fantasy affair losing it's mystique as reality sets in...

Billy's leaving today (don't know where he's going).
Holds his head in disgrace (he can't escape the truth).
He knows the price that he's paid.
He admits that it's too late to admit that he's afraid.
Tomorrow comes. Sorrow becomes his soul mate.
The damage is done. The prodigal son is too late.
Old doors are closed but he's always open,
To relive time in his mind.
Oh Billy.

Billy's leaving today (don't know where he's going).
He's got lines on his face (they
tell the story of his pain).
He accepts it's his fate.
He admits it took too long to admit that he was wrong.
Tomorrow comes. Sorrow becomes his soul mate.
The damage is done. The prodigal son is too late.
Old doors are closed but he's always open,
To relive time in his mind.
Oh Billy.

Once he was a lover sleeping with another.
Now he's just known as a cheat.
And he wish he'd had a mirror; looked a little clearer.
Seen into the eyes of the weak.
Tomorrow comes. Sorrow becomes his soul mate.
The damage is done. The prodigal son is too late.
Old doors are closed but he's always open,
To relive time in his mind.
Oh Billy.

These two could fit the MLC theme

James, Josh Rouse

He decided he'd be better off alone
So he left his wife and child and went solo
It is summertime, Atlanta's hot as hell
He thinks back to what he had, and where he's now

James can't stop hangin' out in the bars
He's on top, breakin' all the ladies hearts
James ain't got a problem with alcohol
He can't stop, hangin' out in the bars

Found a payphone and the courage it did swell
What to say, James never really knew that well
His apology was more than they could stand
"I'm just a poor excuse for what some call a man"

James can't stop hangin' out in the bars
He's on top, breakin' all the ladies hearts
James ain't got a problem with alcohol
He can't stop, hangin' out in the bars

"So I want you to be spirited and brave
Find someone to love, but never take my place"
He hung the phone up and defeated his own life
Disappeared into the closest neon sign

James can't stop hangin' out in the bars
He's on top, breakin' all the ladies hearts
James ain't got a problem with alcohol
He can't stop, hangin' out in the bars

James can't stop

Once in a Lifetime, Talking Heads

And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful
wife
And you may ask yourself-Well...How did I get here?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!
Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...

Water dissolving...and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Carry the water at the bottom of the ocean
Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

And you may ask yourself
What is that beautiful house?
And you may ask yourself
Where does that highway go?
And you may ask yourself
Am I right?...Am I wrong?
And you may tell yourself
MY GOD!...WHAT HAVE I DONE?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...

Maybe Tomorrow by Sterophonics

I've been down and I'm wondering why
These little black clouds
Keep walking around with me, with me

It wastes time and I'd rather be high
Think I'll walk me outside and buy a rainbow smile
But be free, they're all free

So maybe tomorrow, I'll find my way home
So maybe tomorrow, I'll find my way home

I look around at a beautiful life
I've been the upper side of down, been the inside of out
But we breathe, we breathe

I wanna breeze and an open mind
I wanna swim in the ocean
Wanna take my time for me, all me

So maybe tomorrow, I'll find my way home
So maybe tomorrow, I'll find my way home

So maybe tomorrow, I'll find my way home
So maybe tomorrow, I'll find my way home

So maybe tomorrow, I'll find my way home
Maybe tomorrow, I'll find my way home

"He Stopped Loving Her Today"

Sung by George Jones

(I can't hold back tears when I hear this now)

Written by R. V. Braddock and C. Putman, Jr.

He said I'll love you 'til I die
She told him you'll forget in time
As the years went slowly by
She still preyed upon his mind

He kept her picture on his wall
Went half crazy now and then
He still loved her through it all
Hoping she'd come back again

Kept some letters by his bed
Dated 1962
He had underlined in red
Every single I love you

I went to see him just today
Oh but I didn't see no tears
All dressed up to go away
First time I'd seen him smile in years

(Chorus)
He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today

(Spoken)
You know she came to see him one last time
Oh and we all wondered if she would
And it kept running through my mind
This time he's over her for good

Another one from Soul Asylum, Promises Broken:

Streets are filled with broken glass
You get buried by the past
And give me just a little taste
Lay this mess to waste, take me home

My mind is racing take me home
My body's aching so alone
I'll make you want to stay with me
Befriended by the enemy, one more time

And every little thing about this tells me
Nothing out there is ever gonna help me
All these words that I hear spoken
Just promises broken now

Looking outside from my window sill
Throw another coin in the wishing well
Never find what you're looking for
Fifteen miles, your dim light shines from so far away
Your sad smile is all I see when I say

That every little thing about this tells me
Nothing out there is ever gonna help me
And all these words that I hear spoken
Just promises broken now

From the hotel satellite
Don't look like you're living right
Here's a deal you can't refuse
You ain't got as much to lose

Can you tell your troubles to
Someone who won't laugh at you, it's all right
As I watch you walk away
Hope a part of you would stay and it's all right

And every little thing about this tells me
Nothing out there is ever gonna help me
All these words that I hear spoken
Just promises broken now

You know... if I didn't hae to deal with MLC I would love this place.. a recipe thread.. a music thread... I had no idea... We are starting a math thread... if you have not heard??? Now if I could figure out a way to follow all these threads and still keep the cash thread going... I would be set...

I will certainly be posting some relevant material here soon... :/

I like "For Once In Our Lives" by Paul Carrack-it's like an H is singing to his post-MLC wife:

Since this mornin' I've been thinkin' how
Things have been between the two of us
We've been fallin' through the here and now
It's time for us to reinvest our trust

Can't you see for once in our lives
Now our love has finally come to ground
The flame we have is burnin' so bright
Burnin' forever now we're back together
For once in our lives
There's no turnin' back
No runnin' away
No coverin' up tracks
For once in our lives
There's no one to blame
And no broken hearts
'Cause we found love again
For once
Once in our lives

You see this mornin' I've been so relieved
There's no more pressure from within
I had this sense that you would get to see
There was no lasting love with him

Can't you see for once in our lives
All the things we've wanted have appeared
Now that we have love realized
Realized forever
For once in our lives
There's no turnin' back
No runnin' away
No coverin' up tracks
For once in our lives
There's no one to blame
And no broken hearts
'Cause we found love again
For once
Once in our lives

Maybe we can't believe
How things can be so wrong
Maybe it's time that we learn
To reach out for feelin' alone

One of my H's fave songs is "All I Need Is A Miracle", maybe someday he'll sing it over me.

Oh yeah, every now and then I'll find myself thinking, "Is that you, baby, or just a Brilliant Disguise..."

"He's a real nowhere man,
Sitting in his Nowhere Land,
Making all his nowhere plans
for nobody.

Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to"

Ladies, does this man sounds like someone you know?... ::) ::) ::)

Casey, that Springsteen one is great.

Well that was the whole point wasn't it? :)  If you want... did you want me to find 5 non mark knopfler songs?

Hmmm why does Twisted Sister -- We are not going to take it,  just randomly pop into my head right now?  5 songs.... that would hardly pose a challenge...

Annej,

No the point was to crack your cold cold mark knofper, dire straits hating heart... :)  I would try find a song that could reach into those cold hating cockles and thaw them.  It is clear... I have failed. :)  Besides to pick 5 of my favorites... would depend on what day it is...

Ok top 5... if I had to pick the last 5 songs... I will ever hear... that will really take some time... can we make it 100?

That is so very foreign a concept to me... I can't imagine being with out music... My mother on the other hand can take 1/2 of music at a time and then she starts complaining about something... usually the bass even though it's a flute concerto.... sorry for the pause there had to check if there was actually such a thing as a flute concerto)

Where you exposed to music as a child?  Did you listen as a teen or just never that interested?   Can you sing?  Are you rhythmically inclined (me D non of the above re rhythm and singing)  Can't dance to save my life... so I don't THAT ticks W off :/

I think maybe a lot of that has to do with what our primary sense is- visual, auditory, tactile.  Personally I am visual, so I like watching music videos, but just listening to music by itself I tend to find overstimulating and irritating, even if it is a song I like.  I prefer silence.
I DO love to dance- I performed as part of a professional troupe for a time, so I generally relate to music through movement, i.e. I like music videos with great dancing, when I am listening to a song I am breaking down in my head how I would move my body to it, etc.

I listen to music 24/7 now andwhen I was a child but while I was living with H for the last ten years of our relationship, we lived in a place with super thin walls and I didn't listen to anything for all of those years. It was pretty depressing for me on top of all the other stuff that was going on with us. I lived like a mouse and I learned to prefer silence because I was a afraid to make a sound. I even got annoyed if the neighbors weren't quiet but that wasn't the real me at all. It was horrible. Music was my first true love!!! ;D

We're just ordinary people... no matter the circumstances...  :)

Ordinary People ~ John Legend (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1l0NYQUGHU)

Oh, oh, oh, oh

Girl, I'm in love with you
But this ain't the honeymoon
We've passed the infatuation phase
We're right in the thick of love
At times we get sick of love
It seems like we argue every day

I know I misbehaved
And you've made your mistakes
And we've both still got room left to grow
And though love sometimes hurts
I still put you first
And we'll make this thing work
But I think we should take it slow

We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go
'Cause we're ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow

Take it slow, oh oh, this time we'll take it slow
Take it slow, oh oh, this time we'll take it slow

This ain't a movie, no
No fairytale conclusion y'all
It gets more confusing every day
Sometimes it's Heaven sent
Then we head back to Hell again
We kiss, then we make up all the way

I hang up, you call
We rise and we fall
And we feel like just walking away
As our love advances
We take second chances
Though it's not a fantasy
I still want you to stay

We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go
Cause we're ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow

Take it slow, oh oh, this time we'll take it slow
Take it slow, oh oh, this time we'll take it slow
Take it slow

Maybe we'll live and learn
Maybe we'll crash and burn
Maybe you'll stay
Maybe you''ll leave
Maybe you'll return
Maybe another fight
Maybe we won't survive
Maybe we'll grow
We'll never know
Baby, you and I

We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go
Cause we're ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow, hey

We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go
Cause we're ordinary people
Maybe we should take it slow

Take it slow, oh oh, this time we'll take it slow
Take it slow, oh oh, this time we'll take it slow
Take it slow,slow [fade]

Just had an afterthought about my comment on that song... but I ran out of time to edit. ;)  We're both ordinary and extraordinary at the same time. The title is very fitting for the song, though.

Anyway, I might as well add another song / video that I am loving at the moment, since I bumped the thread unnecessarily, although it doesn't have much relevance to mlc. ::)

Time to chime in ... more from a 'moved on perspective' or even just to help you find your inner strength sometimes.

First one, in honour of my screen name:

Kelly Clarkson - What Doesn't Kill You

You know the bed feels warmer
Sleeping here alone
You know I dream in colour
And do the things I want

You think you got the best of me
Think you had the last laugh
Bet you think that everything good is gone
Think you left me broken down
Think that I'd come running back
Baby you don't know me, cause you're dead wrong

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I :D
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone

You heard that I was starting over with someone new
But told you I was moving on over you

You didn't think that I'd come back
I'd come back swinging
You tried to break me, but you see

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I :D
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone

Thanks to you I got a new thing started
Thanks to you I'm not a broken hearted
Thanks to you I'm finally thinking bout me
You know in the end the day you left was just my beginning
In the end...

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I :D
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone

And another:

Kelly Clarkson - Mr. Know It All

Mr. Know It All
Well ya think you know it all
But ya don't know a thing at all
Ain't it, ain't it something y'all
When somebody tells you something 'bout you
Think that they know you more than you do
So you take it down another pill to swallow

Mr. Bring Me Down
Well ya, ya like to bring me down, don't you?
But I ain't laying down, baby, I ain't goin' down
Can't nobody tell me how it's gonna be
Nobody's gonna make a fool out of me
Baby, you should know that I lead not follow

[Chorus:]
Oh you think that you know me, know me
That's why I'm leaving you lonely, lonely
'Cause baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me
You ain't got the right to tell me
When and where to go, no right to tell me
Acting like you own me lately
Yeah baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me

Mr. Play Your Games
Only got yourself to blame when you want me back again
But I ain't falling back again
'Cause I'm living my truth without your lies
Let's be clear baby this is goodbye
I ain't coming back tomorrow

[Chorus:]
Oh you think that you know me, know me
That's why I'm leaving you lonely, lonely
'Cause baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me
You ain't got the right to tell me
When and where to go, no right to tell me
Acting like you own me lately
Yeah baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me

[Bridge:]
So what you've got the world at your feet
And you know everything about everything
But you don't
You still think I'm coming back but baby you'll see yeah...

[Chorus:]
Oh you think that you know me, know me
That's why I'm leaving you lonely, lonely
'Cause baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me
You ain't got the right to tell me
When and where to go, no right to tell me
Acting like you own me lately
Yeah baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me

Mr. Know It All
Well ya think you know it all
But ya don't know a thing at all
Yeah baby you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me
