Title: What types of therapies have you heard of?
Post by: Roma on December 22, 2016, 11:02:36 AM
I've seen some great different therapies on here that look very promising so I thought starting a thread might be helpful for us the LBS and/or for our MLCer to heal our issues.

I've seen trauma therapy
Would love to know more about testosterone treatment. Does anyone know more about it?
Just read something about EMDR
and a counting strategy.

Do you know of any other? How is it working for you and or the MLCer? Please list it here so we all can learn together. Thanks.

I did hypnosis to help with grief. Four sessions.Worked good.Last ditch to move from the anger phase.

Honestly, IC did little for me as I've been in IC on and off long before MLC. What helped me most was my 12 step recovery program. If you aren't an addict or alcoholic, and don't need AA or NA, codependents anonymous or alanon can be beneficial for LBS. The steps have truly freed me from the insanity of MLC. I recommend working the steps. To find a meeting near you for coda or alanon, here are links: http://locator.coda.org/ (http://locator.coda.org/) and http://www.al-anon.alateen.org/find-a-meeting (http://www.al-anon.alateen.org/find-a-meeting)

I agree with 12 step programs. It helped a lot to find in Alanon that there are others who had childhoods similar to mine and because of it they're facing issues similar to mine. Plus, in most locations you can attend sessions almost every day and, at most, they cost only a dollar or two donation per meeting. And nobody will say or think badly of you if you don't donate at all.

I've heard that from more than one person.  Al-anon an be very beneficial for LBS's.
Similar situations.

I agree..I attended alanon in my 30s due to my mother and her alcoholism and lack of boundaries regarding me.
I didn't ever think to use it on people in general back then. But it really would apply for someone to use in any situation that disrespectful or hurtful behavior is occurring.

Another really good form of self care ( therapy) is also to remove anyone who does not support you on any level. Or  MlCers or anyone else who likes to play mind games, manipulation, etc. Anyone who puts you down or dismisses how you feel. Anyone you feel is toxic to you.

Send a clear message with NC.

I agree In It, cut them off at the knees.

No one needs to put up with disrespect.  I don't care who it is.  We all need to respect ourselves.

Exactly Thunder no matter who it is.

Your own children can also make you feel as if you are not good enough or unworthy to be loved. It isn't easy to remember no one can make you feel inferior without your permission.
