Post by: gman242 on September 06, 2017, 08:04:29 PM
I figured this would be a nice place to inquire about or post your status for members or family members. We care about those too!

I'm in Tampa.. Doing fine right now. Who was in Ft Meyers? I'm so sorry.. :-[ no expectations? Never say never?

I looked and my sister is in Lake Wales, more inland from Tampa.

I'm watching the storm pattern.  She's hunkering down.

Gman,

Current track has irma headed your way more than mine.  We are still expecting hurricane force winds though.

Thunder, your sister will most likely get hurricane force too.

Stay safe, everyone!

Praying for you all, at this moment the hurricane has not really turned towards the north yet so who knows where it will really go.

Try to stay safe.

Be safe Gman. Praying for you.

Caribbean is going to get hit again. Daughter is now bracing for Hurricane Jose. Cat 2 already. She and the XH are bracing for round 2. Katina is next. All prayers are appreciated.

USVI is devastated.

OD sent pictures of the hospital, it's destroyed. Navy has set up Pop up Hospitals. Many businesses have been destroyed. The roof on over OD's apartment is gone. She may have to move because of mold. The conditions are desperate, and I'm starting a Go Fund Me campaign tomorrow. If I can post pictures, I will.

Most people have lost almost everything they own. They're in need of everything. Everything is imported, and they aren't receiving much aid due to the new storms approaching. They are in need of clean water, and other basic hygiene necessities. Food will become an issues soon.

OD and friends have enough to last a few weeks, but other people have lost everything, so they're sharing. It won't last long.

Please pray for everyone on all of the islands that have been hit. They're about to hit again, possibly by both Hurricanes Jose (cat 2) and Katina (tropical depression).

Its headed right over me. Keeping an eye on it. I can head west to my parents house, who are in Ny. But that puts me towards the bad wind.. But I've got the water on my side and may need to evacuate so I'm keeping eye on everything..

All I can say is this is gonna suck.

I hope your daughter comes through ok as well as everyone else affecred over there AbFab!

Thunder, it should be better over in the middle if the state since Irma has moved over so far.

NoE, I hope you're ok! OMG prayers all around!!

gman, I was thinking of you all day, as I'm been watching the storm path change.
Also for my sister.

It does sound like you are in the path right now.  Can you leave a go upward to upper FL?
Maybe just keep driving away from it as much as you can?

I have friends in Georgia who may be in the path also.

I'm still hoping there may be a turn in this storm....or at least a big down grade on the winds expected.
Keep us posted....and stay safe.

Stay safe, it's a cat 3, but still going to do a lot damage. Just praying that you are hunkered in. Prayers going up.

We are really dodging the bullet here.  We're getting the band's but not a direct hit.  Gman, I really feel for you and everyone in the direct path.  Sending prayers!

My sister is in Lake Wales, east of Tampa.  I know Gman is in Tampa.

Sadly it sounds like the whole state will be effected one way or another.   :(

Its supposed to be a cat 2-3 as it passes directly over around 2am. The fun starts at 8 though.  Party hats optional.

I'm in contact with a neighbor of mine via radio, phone etc. I'm going to step up preparedmess next year. Its all stuff I can use for camping and airsoft too..

Otherwise its like a big sleepover.. Frozen pizza, movies, video games. I got lots of cleaning and laundry done ! If I lose the house, at least it'll be clean!

We're getting very strong winds.   Lost power.  My screens in my screen room are gone.  But still,  so very lucky.  It was headed our way as a cat 5.

Praying for everyone.  I have a cousin in Okeechobee that has horses, dogs, cats.  I think she moved about 20 miles away to the horse stable where she works as their stable was more protection for the horses than the barn on their property.

I have a friend in Fort Lauderdale who is hunkered down.  She posted 7 hours ago that the internet was back and that she was safe.

My friend in Port Saint Lucie has been in the bathtub twice for tornado warnings.  She posted about some people saving Manitees that got stranded in the bay at the end of Whitfield.

My friend in Riverview lost power about 10 minutes ago.  It's her son's birthday so they are making the best of it.

My friend in New Port Richey I heard from about 4 hours ago.

My other friend's tried to get out yesterday.  They left Tarpon Springs and after 10 hours stopped in Pensacola.

Meanwhile, there are wild fires on our side of the U.S. so I am also praying for friends here that have had to evacuate as well.   :'(

The air quality here last week was horrible, but it has cleared up a good deal in the last few days.

Stay safe everyone and update as you can!

Riverview is up the road from me... My back door is facing north and getting some bad weather and is starting to leak a bit.

Could be much worse!! It'll be a cat 1 when it gets here

Glad to know you're all right. Still have power? How's the damage? Has the rain stopped where you are yet?

I haven't heard from my OD in 2 days. That's not a good sign. They're in need of water and food where she is. She and her friends stocked up, but many others didn't. The local Marriott has working showers and fresh water. She has some friends staying there, so they're able to shower and take care of basic hygiene. I hope to hear from her today.

Keep the updates coming. Saw that the Red Cross is on the scene. Still praying for you.

We survived with no real damage! The neighbor hood was a mess.. mostly leaves though all over the place. Nobody had any real damage and we're still waiting on stores to open and resupply. I'm off until Friday. It could have been much, much worse! I think the winds petered out around 1am and I went to bed. S was set up in my closet in a little camping fort. It was pretty cute!

AbFab, that's absolutely horrifying! I hope you hear some news, somehow..! She's been on my mind since they started showing pictures of the damage from the islands.. So scary.. ! My thoughts and prayers are with you!

The town where the storm is making landfall is where my H currently keeps his plane.   His boat is docked a couple of miles away.  I think he is there with OW and some of her family this weekend.
My D has not heard from him, I had a brief birthday text from him on Saturday which I responded to with just a thank-you.

I am wondering if I should check he is ok ?  I assume he and OW are in very close proximity to each other and it is probably a bonding experience for them so I don't want to pursue.
Is it very  frightening being in this kind of storm?

I do hope that anyone else impacted by this is safe.

Oops - too late Thunder! :)
I did say that we were all hoping he was OK - including daughter and dogs.
He responded  immediately to say scary but safe.
I will not reply.
One day I will learn.

I think I did this last year during our big one. I'm in Tampa, if you're in the path of Micheal, please drop us a line and let us know how you're doing.

This one is a big one..

Thinking of everyone in the path of this storm.

I'm not anywhere near it, but it's set to make a direct hit where my H currently lives.  They are talking about catastrophic damage of historic proportions.

Be safe, everyone!

I wonder where No Ex lives in FL.

Nas, I pray for everyone who is in FL. Georgia and I believe Maryland.  It's going to effect a lot of people.

I hope everyone is ok.

It was quite a huge storm.  So much damage was done.  All those poor people who lost everything.
