Just saw this article and video.  I'm actually surprised that MLC is mentioned in such a way that it's not really made fun of but rather mentioned as an everyday thing.  That's just my take and others may see the article differently.

For the record, I  think Emma Stone is hot and I'm 40.  Am I in MLC?

OP - I wanted this to be a discussion topic, but couldn't figure out how to format it.  Can you change it for me and let me know how for next time?  Thanks!

Looks like SL changed it for you but there is a message icon underneath the subject   icon, either one can be changed for any post.

Try clicking it and you will see a drop down menu.

P.S.
We do have a thread on celebrity MLC's which I may merge this with later

FTR I just had to look at Emma Stone's pictures but I must be too old,
She IMHO is affair down when compared to Jenny McCarthy.
How he could cheat on her is unbelievable to me.

So, yes, Jim Carrey has been having a MLC for a while now, no question about it.

Ok.
Just to set the record straight....(if that is possible for Hollywood romances) -

Emma Stone isn't having a relationship with Jim Carrey.  At least not openly.  Jim Carrey just made some asinine video - declaring his "love" for her.  I would imagine that, except for the free publicity, she may be embarrassed by his silly antics.  He is a joke, and not a funny one - at the moment.

MLC?  Could be.  If you know anything about his childhood - it was pretty bad.  Grew up in total poverty.  He and his parents lived on the outskirts of some production plant....Jim Carrey would work all night long (graveyard shift) and then go to school the next day.  Probably grew up with a complete lack of sleep.

He and Jenny McCarthy ended their relationship quite a while ago.  Surprisingly enough( :o :o :o :o), he announced their break up on his website - with a really weird video.  Not sure what or how McCarthy announced it on her side.

There is something about over the top comedians (like Carrey) - usually they are very dark, depressed, and totally screwed up inside.  Richard Pryor, Lenny Bruce, and others come to mind......

I happen to like Emma Stone.......she sort of has the Lindsey Lohan looks - without all the negative baggage.  This weird Jim Carrey story is the first "negative" thing that I have ever read about her......and she was/is just the "subject" of all the weirdness.  I don't think that she has even publicly commented on Jim Carrey's embarrassing video.  On her fan website.....it shows the video Jim Carrey made - with clips of Emma from her movies - making fun of him.

Just file Carrey in the same folder as Mel Gibson.  Totally whacked.

Just my humble opinion.

Why Did Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy Break Up?
Apr 12, 2010 Author: YourCelebrityStuff | Filed under: Jenny McCarthy, Jim Carrey

It came as a shock last week when both Jim Carrey, 48, and Jenny McCarthy, 37, quietly and calmly announced the end of their 5-year relationship through their Twitter accounts. Their split was very unexpected and we’ve been wondering ever since what went wrong.

OK! magazine is reporting, “Jenny said it became very Jerry McGuire-esque, in the sense that she had this had this great guy, and he loved her kid, but they were no longer hitting their stride. She said when she and Jim worked, they worked — and when they stopped working, it was done, just like that.”

According to Jenny’s pal, she told Jim that the spark had gone out of their relationship.

“She just looked at him and was like, ‘You love me like a family member that’s never going anywhere, not like a woman who you can’t wait to make love to,’ ” recounts the source, adding that Jim “just stared at her” for a minute, before admitting that was in love with Jenny and her son Evan as a package, but that he “couldn’t get his mind right, he wanted to, but somewhere along the way, he lost it.”

Supposedly, the two will continue to stay committed to each other’s children: Jim sees Jenny’s son Evan every day and even though they are “totally and 100 percent over romantically,” the source says they’ll be friends forever.

Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy Split
Apr 7, 2010 Author: YourCelebrityStuff | Filed under: Jenny McCarthy, Jim Carrey

After five years of dating, Jim Carrey, 48, and Jenny McCarthy, 37, have parted ways. The announcement of their split comes as a surprise.

Carrey posted on his Twitter page, “Jenny and I have just ended our 5yr relationship. I’m grateful 4 the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best! S’okay! ?;^>.”

“I’m so grateful for the years Jim and I shared together,” McCarthy said in a statement. “I will continue to be in his daughter’s life and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart.”

Although Jim and Jenny were not married, each had walked down the aisle in the past. McCarthy divorced director John Asher, the father of her 7-year-old son, Evan, in 2005 after nearly six years of marriage. Carrey has been married twice: to Melissa Womer, with whom he split in 1995, and Lauren Holly, whom he split from in 1997.

Jim Carrey Is A Grandpa!
Mar 1, 2010 Author: YourCelebrityStuff | Filed under: Jim Carrey

His girlfriend might have a young son, but Jim Carrey, 47, is now a proud grandpa!

Early Friday morning, Carrey’s daughter, Jane, 22, gave birth to her first child, a boy, named Jackson Riley Santana, weighing 7 pounds and 11 ounces.

Well maybe Jenny McCarthy was just part of his crisis.

I agree that he is whacked out!

Now, now, let's get our nomenclature correct.  He's filthy rich so he can't be "crazy" or "whacked out."  He just has to be "eccentric."  You can't be poor and be eccentric, so us regular joes will have to deal with being crazy.  Middle-aged Eccentrics instead of Middle-aged Crazies?

Not everything is MLC.  It has to be a CHANGE in behavior pattern.

And I agree Emma Stone isn't an affair much less an affair down.  She was just the victim of his rant.  He may have some "creative genius" depression/whackiness going on.  Don't think it's MLC.  We did talk about celebrities elsewhere.  Mel Gibson, possibly.  Charlie Sheen, not MLC, usual self-indulgent behavior - just nuts.

I think it does a disservice to us by misusing MLC terminology - calling things MLC that aren't, throwing terminology around loosely.  If we want the world to understand MLC, then we can't use it as an excuse for any whacky behavior.

Oh, and OP, it's not an affair down just because you think the other one is hotter.  :)

OK, if this is now "celebrities' MLC's" then I can add tennis star Chrissie Evert to this list -- this year the papers actually used the phrase "mid-life crisis" when describing how she quite suddenly (a few years ago, now) divorced her husband of many years and the father of her 3 sons to marry someone whose name I can't at all remember but who was generally regarded as not good.....

That imploded, but in the meantime her ex found someone else...  she was actually saying in the interview that she lost it and that her H had been justified in re-marrying, and was even going to spend a holiday with her sons, her ex, and his new wife.

The tone of the article had her saying "I screwed up, I got what I deserved, I have to be happy for him" type thing.   The article, if I remember correctly, did have her saying something about having gone nuts or the like.

She is now setting up a tennis academy and concentrating on getting a life....

so not a return story, but yet again an MLCer waking up and regretting it....
