My Story WHISKEY ME AWAY
#140: October 14, 2026, 08:53:28 PM
So we just finished 6 visits in a 2 month span which is a lot for us. She attended her 4th marathon with me. She had a good laugh because sometimes I text her at a certain mile and tell her how this is absolutely my last one.

I have finished 16 marathons now with Dublin up next. Idk how many more I have left in me. I have 3 scheduled for 2027 and then I will start to downsize. Maybe one a year and at some point just 5k's. I'm tired of the constant training since 2022. Running got me through this life.

We went food shopping together and it was so nice. We have been slowing things down a bit. We have tended to always pack an adventure into our day so maybe we are trying more mundane activities now.

She is a very good cook and it was nice sitting in her kitchen. She always amazes me. I find her to be so knowledgeable. I love asking her questions and listening to her answers.

She does not ask for help. I think she is stubborn. So at her house yesterday we did landscaping together and it felt so good. I told her I have been waiting years for a woman to need me again. I crave to be needed by her. I think she is softening to the idea.

I told her we could tackle another project when I see her over Thanksgiving for 10 days. So now we have basically a 5 week break. I'm leaving for Dublin soon for 2 weeks.

Idk I think we both could use the breather to recharge and think about what has happened over the past couple of months. Yes I worry at times I have applied to much pressure on her. She says I haven't.

Our trajectory is so funny to me. I was thinking today how she asked me out in 2022. She was ready for me. Idk if I was ready for her yet. Idk if I ever was going to be ready for her. She had the courage that I lacked. She had the strength that I lacked. I trusted her so I said yes. Of course I was nervous. She was a woman lol.

Saying yes that day was absolutely the best decision I have ever made. She is absolutely my best friend in this life. I want to spend the rest of my days with her.

So flash forward to 2026 and I proposed to her. I was ready for her this time and idk if she was necessarily ready for me yet lol.

I would love to live with her and see her everyday. Do things for her. Partner together. Cook together. We have our talking and laughing sessions where it is just us. Shut out from the world. Our communication is incredible.

We will live separately when I arrive. It helps me acclimate to my new job and new area while also giving us some distance as our time together will significantly increase.

She absolutely does not scare me. I want it all. The good and the bad. Every imperfection and scar. I want to protect her heart. Feed her soul. Keep her intrigued and always make her laugh.

Sounds good to me! Congratulations!

As far as the marathons go (and reducing the numbers), we'll believe it when we see it <snort!>  ;D

Some of us have been watching to see where you are running next.... <lol> and how far....

A REAL friend will sit you down and tell you to your face to stop being a firetrucking idiot before you ruin your life and the lives of those around you.

Hello,

Sorry that it has been a while since I posted on your thread despite all the great news.

She definitely slipped something into my drink during my August visit because I have never behaved this way before and I am madly in love with her.

Don't they all? I have been with my wife for 12 years now and married for eight. Still feel so happy that she is in my life and I am madly in love with her as well. I am so glad because I felt that everything in your social network was more an obligation rather than something you enjoyed. Everything was tainted by your ex and you didn't find much joy other than being by yourself.

I am so glad that you didn't allow the past trauma that you have endured has impacted your ability to open yourself up to someone new. As bad as things may have been for me, they pale in comparison to all that you have suffered. It is good to see and feel a positive future for yourself and your love. I am truly happy for you.

Continue to post and let us know how you are doing. We all need to see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Remember, the forum is not about our MLCers. It's our story and how we emerge.

Have an awesome day,

(((Ready)))

Hi UrsaMajor, Readytoofixmyselfirst.

Oh I was really slow with her Ready. We were friends for two years before we met. I was even slower with her between 2018-2022. Yes she thought I ran too much lol. Oh I pushed her away a lot in this period. Yes I didn't think I wanted to date. I loved taking her out and spending time with her.

Yes I always felt her relationship pressure. I always knew she wanted more from me.So I was cautious. I was learning from her how to be with a woman again. My previous experience had ended horribly afterall.

I needed the running for the trauma, for the divorce legalities, for losing my son's. She also helped me immensely during this entire ordeal.

I would find any excuse to go silent on her. One time she time she told me something to do about the divorce and that was it. It was a demand. Well that's how I perceived it. I was done with her. I went 4 months no contact in Dec 2021 and into 2022. I would not accept her apology.

I really don't recall what she said nor do I know how she broke the stalemate. I told her I was immature and I would never shut her out again. That's how I handled myself back then. I retreated into silence. I ran because I was alone in my own thoughts. Yes I preferred to be alone.

She is a wonderful woman so I had to grow up. I'd rather take a chance with her then remain living in silence I said to myself. So when she asked me out finally, lol, I said yes. It took her forever 😂. It had to be her. I was never going to ask her out.

Yes we have been steady seeing each other since mid 2022 and 2026 is the most time we have spent together. I think we will be pretty close to 100 days this year. Yes she knows she has me badly yearning for her. I can't believe how hard I have fallen for her.

I think this is how she used to view me early on. The script has flipped so I proposed. So ,of course, since I have proposed, guess who firetruckingly has finally appeared. Yep the long lost prodigal ex husband. You have got to be kidding me. Well I pushed him back into that tunnel. I'm not letting him back out LMAO.

Sorry Hero Spouse, reconnection access denied ! Eff that. Maybe we can list it under a new category. Denied Reconnections. Its been 10 years. Hello. Where the eff have you been .So he did something that angered me. She is under enough stress and didn't need me melting down for two days adding to her stress so I backed off.

She did explain to me that he may be bad however he is nothing like my ex wife. So I calmed down and I told her I will trust her in how she handles it. I am much calmer about it a few weeks later now.

So Dublin was great. Plenty of Guinness around. The marathon was so so. They have wind storms in Ireland apparently and one hit the day of the marathon. Sustained winds at 30mph so it was a difficult run.

The weather held up overall during my 2 weeks. One day of rain only . I went to plenty of pubs, listened to traditional Irish music, ate Irish food, drank plenty of Guinness, did some whiskey tastings and attended like 12 museums easily. I'm not a big fan of whiskey. I drank straight from a cask and it was pretty brutal stuff lol.

I took 3 long day trips which were 12 hours each. I went the the Cliffs of Moher, the Rock of Cashel, the Burren, I kissed the Blarney Stone and I went to Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland. I went on a tour of Belfast and was surprised to learn a wall still stands dividing the Catholics and Protestants and the gates are locked every night at 7pm.

I also visited Cork and Galway. Yes I highly recommend visiting Dublin and Ireland overall. I did tell her I cannot travel anymore without her. Its just not the same anymore. I have finished 17 marathons now in 8 years so idk how more I have left in me to run. I think she is panicking I might be giving up running now. She is telling me half marathons are still fine for me. I was thinking more like 5k's now. 😂
