Since Islam means peace, it is impossible to be an "Islamic terrorist" as anyone committing those violent acts is automatically NOT following the faith. There are folks who twist the meaning of a faith to justify their actions. That does not make them followers of the faith.

You have written repeatedly that there are no attacks on Muslims. Please read about what is happening in Syria. Not all Syrian refugees are Christian. If one is Muslim and does not believe in the recreation of the Caliphate, one is fair game for being killed.

Our intelligence community was fair warned about the 9/11 attackers and did not act on the intelligence. Since then, the domestic attacks were committed by Americans. Our involvement in Iraq on the basis of the "weapons of mass destruction", which turned out to be a pretense, laid the groundwork for the upsurge in the violence by the terrorists.

Trump has succeeded in revving up his base and tapping into fear of difference. Thundaar- within your lifetime, white Christians will make up a minority in this country. You cannot fight the sea change of demographics. White privilege, white male privilege, has seen its apogee and no matter what Trump, Bannon, Miller and Spencer do, the diversity of our nation will continue.

Question for all, just give a yes or no and don't analyze:

Should Muslim bakeries in the U.S. be required to make wedding cakes for gay weddings?

Secondly, FTT, never did I say that Muslims were not targeted in terror attacks but just that the terror attacks HERE have not targeted Muslims specifically.  Christians are still targets around the world, and Muslims are in the Middle East.  And while it appears the reports of a terror attack in Sweden were inaccurate I think we can all agree the world has become a more dangerous place.

As for whether there is such a thing as an "Islamic terrorist," I beg to differ on anyone saying they're not Islamic when they practice the religion from their interpretation.  They likely feel they're the good guys and us the infidels and I see no difference than if they were to say we're not Christians because abortion is legal and most Americans have sex outside of marriage.  Am I not Catholic because I have, or because I've used birth control?  Are we not Christian since we're divorced and God hates divorce?  I call BS on saying they're not Islamic and I know the Pope said just that today.  I'm not a big fan of him either, btw, and I'm sure he's not pro-America.

Thundarr,

I was not patronizing you, but I know many people like you who felt threatened by Obama. Please, maintain respectful tone. We can disagree on issues but nobody gave you right to tell me to shove it. I will maintain my right to speak about issues that I care about. Isn't it how Trump behaves. Bullying and shutting down media, when he finds discussion/question a bit challanging for his comfort .
You remind me of Don Quixote. If you have not read Servantes, please do.

M-W definition of patronizing:

1.
treat with an apparent kindness that betrays a feeling of superiority.
"“She's a good-hearted girl,” he said in a patronizing voice"
synonyms:   treat condescendingly, condescend to, look down on, talk down to, put down, treat like a child, treat with disdain More

You dismissed my arguments as being prejudiced due to having a black president.  I was actually all FOR having a black president and was soundly disappointed that he turned out to be nothing more than a race-baiting puppet of Pelosi and Soros.  But, given his lack of qualifications I guess doing what he was told was all we should've expected.  At least Trump surrounds himself with people who understand defense and how the military works such as Generals Mattie and Kelly.  Obama picked a freaking lawyer to defend our borders because he had donated a lot to his campaign.  Complain about Trump's picks all you will, but be fair in pointing out Obama's shortcomings as well.

Just a grammar point. Muslim is a noun or adjective used to describe a person who follows the religion of Islam. Islam is the noun used to refer to the religion. Therefore, Islamic is an adjective derived from the word for the religion and is used to refer to things other than people. Thus you can have a Muslim terrorist but not an Islamic terrorist.

And also I would like to point out that ForTheTrees assertion that they are not Muslim is a non-Muslim apologist perspective and one that most Muslims would not be willing to subscribe to. Muslims are taught not to question whether another Muslim is Muslim or not. It is taught that if one questions whether someone is Muslim or not, it means that either the person who they are questioning, or the questioner is not Muslim. It's up to God to decide things like this. It doesn't mean they are necessarily good Muslims, just that it is no one's business to decide whether someone else is Muslim or not.

Sure.  Why would they even need to know if the wedding cake is for a gay marriage or not?
That's no ones business.
What difference should it make to them?  Their a bakery.

Thundarr,

Which of Trump's cabinet pick is qualified? Rick Perry, the guy who did not know that Secretary of Energy is responsible for Nuclear Regulatory Agency, Betsy de Vos, who was oblivious to the fact that there is a Law that she is supposed to enforce, or the nominee for labor secretary, that even the Republicans could not vote for. Does it bother you at all that the net worth of his cabinet equals to the net worth of 40% of American households. These are the issues that we need to talk about, and not how appointing Ivanka Trump to the administration makes Trump, all of sudden a champion for women's rights notwithstanding his actions and own pronouncements.
In previous threads I wrote about the shortcomings of Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Democratic Party.

To my Trump-supporting friends, we are scared of you

Commentary Nov 10

Written by Jason Darr, Contributor
Connect with Jason Darr, Dallas News

To my friends on the Right:
We're terrified of you.
This isn't a matter of disliking policy or disagreeing on what direction the country should go in. This is a real terror concerning you, what you believe, and who you have elected.
As a white guy, (and I know how much you hate hearing about that distinction) I have the least to be afraid of. I'm in a reviled religious minority, but I can hide in plain sight. I've had to lie about my beliefs before and it feels horrible, but I'm afforded that privilege in order to avoid your judgement. So many other groups can't. They're scared. And I'm scared for them.
I'm scared for my gay friends and family. The Right has judged them for decades now, ranging from far-away scorn to physical violence and murder. After lifelong battles, too late for so many, they won the right to marry -- a right you've always had. Now that right will be questioned and possibly taken away. The Right kept fighting the right to adopt even after Obergefell. They're still fighting treating gay marriages the same as straight ones, in my very own state. We are scared about these rights being rolled back. We are scared that you have elected a vice president who supports sending gay people into therapy so that they can be "fixed" and made straight, like him. We are scared that the attacks will increase again.
Perhaps you don't support these things. But you have voted for people that do.

I'm scared for my transgender friends. They were already in mortal fear that someone from the Right would catch them using the "wrong" bathroom. Not a fear of the law, but a fear of being attacked. Last night a Republican who said he would PERSONALLY be the one instigating such attacks became sheriff in my county.
Perhaps you don't support that. But you have voted for people that do.

I'm scared for my Muslim friends. I have now seen two separate accounts of Muslim friends of friends being physically attacked last night and told to go back to their own country. Both were born in the U.S.
Perhaps you don't support that. But you have voted for people that do.

I'm scared for my Hispanic friends. So many will now face having their families broken up, not to mention the discrimination from an overt racist. A man who thinks Hispanic people can't preside over his cases will now be in charge of filling vacancies on the judiciary.
Perhaps you don't support that. But you have voted for people that do.

And most importantly I'm scared for my female friends. I am TERRIFIED for my female friends. I'm scared for my friends that recounted the times they were groped exactly in the manner Trump described himself doing on his despicable tape. I'm scared for the ones who have had panic attacks after reading about the time he raped his wife.

I'm scared that after all the progress we seemed to have made in that area, the president will be someone who said women being in the workplace is a problem. A president who said that if he got home and dinner wasn't ready that he would go through the roof. A president who talks on camera about young girls and how he'll be dating them in a few years. A president who sexualizes his own daughters. A president who attacks his female opponents by saying: "Just look at her face." A president who wakes up in the middle of the night to attack a woman who says he acted inappropriately towards her. A president who says only women with large breasts can be attractive. That's without even touching all of the policies that will put women's rights and lives at risk here soon.
Perhaps you don't support that. But you have voted for people that do.

I don't know how this country is going to move forward, but this is not a normal "our side lost." This isn't sour grapes. We're scared of you. We don't understand you. And we are, quite frankly, right now terrified of what you've done to the government. (Please don't draw any comparisons to the economics of Barack Obama. NOTHING there approaches the physical danger people are afraid of right now.)

I hope there's a way past this, but we can't understand how you can look past all of the hatred, bigotry, and judgement and say, "Well those things are bad, but I'm ok with electing people like that."

==============================================================================

Thundarr, your "vile" comments frighten us.  Your "twisted" patriotism, horrifies us.  Your "bigoted" conclusions, disgust us.  Your "dogmatic" religious beliefs, cause us to doubt your devotion.  Your "devotion" to a man who gropes women and raped his wife, grades women's appearance, sexualizes women, stereotypes women, shows us your TRUE thoughts about women and their place in your society.  Warns us to be very, very afraid.  BUT not of Muslim Terrorist, but of scared white boys like you!

We are afraid of you Thundarr, we should be!

Regarding an Islamic baker, preparing a wedding cake for a "gay marriage":  YES, that baker should have to make such a cake because in a free and democratic country like America, gay marriages are now recognized and LEGAL. Make the cake, congratulate the happy couple, wish them a happy life and be proud of contributing to their SPECIAL DAY.

We are afraid of you and people like you.  Your type walk amongst us, undetectable.  We are afraid.  Very afraid.  We all should be.
