Oh that's good to hear, OP.
Sounds like she's finally on the mend.  :)

OP so glad to hear, can't imagine how much a drain and weight this has been for both of you. Lots of good thoughts and wishes and for what its worth empathy. No one should have to go through it.

They are studying more rigorously the longer term loss of smell/taste and nothing definitive but I believe the guess is its not permanent but sometimes takes a while to fully resolve. Must be a small ray of sunshine to be able to taste something.

I am being told by a co-worker that her doctor told her mom who had Covid that she should wait 2 weeks after the 90 day window to get the vaccine.  So now I’m thinking I should wait until at least then.  Does anyone have any more info on this?

Wait at least 90 days. For sure.

"Getting COVID-19 might offer some natural protection or immunity from reinfection with the virus that causes COVID-19. But it's not clear how long this protection lasts. Because reinfection is possible and COVID-19 can cause severe medical complications, it's recommended that people who have already had COVID-19 get a COVID-19 vaccine. If you’ve had COVID-19, you might delay vaccination until 90 days after your diagnosis. Reinfection with the virus that causes COVID-19 is uncommon in the 90 days after you are first infected."

"Dr. Landers said having had COVID-19 before doesn’t really change your chances of experiencing side effects or not. “I really have not seen that in any scientific literature,” she said."

Like so much about this vaccine, new information is being unfolded daily.

My thoughts are that following all the precautions strictly will help to protect you about getting infected again. I am not finding anything significant to suggest that having had COVID would increase the side effects.

You could call CDC and ask specifically about that.

Unfortunately there is varied and confusing guidelines on this. So I like xyzf's suggestion. Calling CDC may be a good idea. How long ago did you have Covid?

It seems you are firmly outside of the 90 day window (or close enough that you should be good). You should just be prepared that your reaction may be more like the SECOND dose than a first. Which just means flu like symptoms for up to 72 hours. My sister had it on second shot and she didn’t have Covid, but she said basic pain killers helped a lot and she was fine (which seems to be the same anecdotal stories I have heard from a lot of others).

I am curious whether they will revise the guidelines for people who had Covid to simply get one dose. It seems you will have a full immune response on the first dose like others will have on second.

That would save a lot of doses.

I also am wondering about this.  I had Covid the end of December and the vaccine is supposed to be available to me through the school district within the next two weeks so I'm under that 90 day window.
