TrustingMyHP,

Last year my H offered to help before Irene only to rescind and say he was too tired. Actually asked me if I could bring him batteries and flashlights (btw for him and poor little helpless OW).

I didn't bother to even ask this time and haven't heard a peep from him.  Either he doesn't care or knows I can handle myself just fine.  My H has left all responsibility for house and home behind him.

We had a tsunami advisory for a while last night.  I was texting my d b/c she was at a friend's house close to the beach.  Of course she thought I was completely silly...but when the advisory was extended she started to take it seriously. She'd heard b/4 I did from Facadebook.  So much for the internet, I could find NO information even on the government emergency site.  The warnings were there but you had to go to the menu then the sub-heading.  You'd think any alert would be posted front & centre on the main page!  The national tv/radio covered it for hours but all other media--useless, not even a running text.  Oh yeah, & my emergency wind-up radio--couldn't find it!

One point:  we were advised to limit use of phones--landline & cell, in the affected areas & the cell phones were not working well in those areas.  You think communication is so good & then something pretty minor like a non-damaging earthquake happens & you can't contact your family [not us just up north near Alaska].

I think in the end the largest wave was under a metre--in Hawaii!

All you east-coasters don't take chances!  Err on the side of caution.

And go find your radio & batteries!  ;D

Don't bother looking for batteries at least C batteries all gone! And bread, milk and water.

The funny thing is most of us can live out of our pantries for awhile if need be.

Glad you are okay CJ I thought of you and last night.   Mama just yell if you need help I am all set here I hope.  We can take care of anything LBS style!

Everyone stay safe.... FTT, I was wondering about you.... Mamma.... well, you are in better shape than Sab Sam in that ratty apartment... when the lights go out for him, who knows what lurks, right?

My husband was home on Friday, which was "technically" ow's weekend..... Saturday morning we had a "talk" cuz I wasn't feeling so good about things.... he confessed he "wanted to run up to Connecticut RIGHT NOW" and then, upon FURTHER confession... told me that he told her he would be delayed "by traffic" on Friday night, when he was here to take me and the kids to the haunted hayride/house at a local farm stand.... but would be there on Saturday.... needless to say, she was PISSED, and texting him with threats to "Just don't bother.... IF you do come home, it will be to an empty house!!!" and he said he HAD to go up there to SEE if it was true... because if it WAS, then he would pack his $h!te and come home... He said he "needs to see if she really is the piece of $h!te I think she is... she's such a liar!!!" but, as he was PACKING IN FRONT OF ME, he kept saying "But, I'm not sure I will go... I might not go... and if I do, I might turn around and come back....." AS HE IS PACKING!!! I said "Well, you'd better get your suitcase ready..." and he would scrunch up his face like I was reading too much into the fact he was PACKING in front of me!!

Last night, about an hour after he got there, he texts me "Don't reply please, but I've made a huge mistake leaving your side.... I sent you an email..." I guess he doesn't want ow to know if he's texting me, LOL!!! The email read "I already know and realize that I made a mistake by coming, jeaopardizing everything I love.... pls let me know if you need moremoney or anything... call or text... i'M SO SO SO SORRY FOR LEAVING now I'm trapped by the storm... I don't know what I'm doing  :(" I replied "You are not trapped." So, today, as I'm out buying bottled water, etc. I get another email from him.... "I shouldn't be here!!!!! What am I doing???? I don't know.... call me if you need anything... I'm sorry for my choices that are bad....."

Now, WTH could he possibly do for us three states away??? I'm not replying.... I know he will text the kids to get to me... but I think I will enjoy NC, LOL!!!!

Stay safe everyone....
