FTT...You are one of the posters I was initially thinking about.  Started to make a list of all the wonderful people I have met through this site; then thought I may leave someone out, and hurt their feelings so I generalized my post to everyone in the path.

Ás the church lady would say....."Don't you feel special?"

There.are towns not too far from me that are still trying to rebuild from the devastation of Irene last September. They are in my thoughts and prayers also.  Hopefully Sandy will just turn tail and head out to sea.

R2t I saw I the news last night about the earthquakes and immediately thought of some of our friends on here who live in the northwest and BC.

I did all the prep I can yesterday. Put all the outside furniture away etc.  Expecting high winds and power outages.  Most of the leaves are off the trees around me but the ground is so wet I worry about trees coming down.

I am sending prayers up that everyone on the eastern seaboard is sheltered from harm.

Thought that was funny too Thundarr.  It's going to be pretty bad. We live only a couple hundred feet from the bay.  They expect a 8ft storm surge and are going to have a mandatory evaluation for most towns around here.  They are telling us we will probably have no power for about a week...so no internet unless I able to get to work after a day or two...bummer.  Not fun, we are exhausted prepping the outside and have to move our vehicles early tomorrow.  We have candles, generator, flashlights so we are as ready as we can.  Most on our street are staying as are street was build up 5ft higher than the streets around us.  Last year we were an island with three feet of water at hightide in the surrounding streets, many homes in town were destroyed from salt water damage.  Should be interesting.

I live on the east coast, actually just a few blocks from the water and am right in the middle of where the storm is supposed to hit.

I lived through Isabelle (my H and I actually owned a waterfront home then and we had quite an adventure!)

Last year when Irene came I left town and drove west to ride it out at a motel.  Smart move but I came home too quickly.  I'd mistakenly been told my street had gotten power back but had to wait three days before it was restored.

The worst thing about the storm for me is the fact that, like last year with Irene, my H has not contacted me to see if I'm OK and, of course, he offers no help even though he's just 45 minutes from me.   It's still hard for me to believe, almost two years into the MLC madness, that he is so remote during a disaster like this.

He and OW live on a boat so I guess they'll have their hands full. ;D

I have friends with generators and I'm not in the least bit concerned.  When I lose power (I don't think it's an "if") I may just drive to my sister's.  She's nine hours west of me and I could stay with her as long as I need until power is restored.

The wind's kicking up already.  Going to be a long one!
