Meet-Up Mid and East US Meetup
OP: April 15, 2015, 10:18:44 AM
Hi Everyone,

Been talking to a few of you about doing a meetup. I took a look at where some of my "close friends" here live. Seems New York or Florida would be good choices for a weekend getaway. Just curious as to who is interested. Aiming for August or September...before it gets cold.  8) Starting to look into overnight packages etc and things to do. So ideas are welcome as well. And everyone is welcome, West Coast, Europe...join us!

Hmmm. True about Florida in August I guess. Lol

Ok. Let's see what other issues there are and work it out. Thanks for your input!

Okay, I am biased, but I say the meetup should be somewhere in the middle of the country so its easily accessible by most of the members (no disrespect to any of our non-US LBSes here).  And since Memphis is good enough to be the main hub for FedEx since its nice and centrally located, that is where my vote goes!

Just kidding actually-stay away from Memphis!  In all seriousness, the Appalachian Mountains are absolutely GORGEOUS.  East TN/Virginia/NC/SC, somewhere around there.

Doubt I will make it, but I sure would like to.

-EDIT-  My favorite location on the entire planet:

August/Sept sounds perfect.

I'll be in NYC August 20th for my birthday but I can go anytime it's only about 3 hours from me.

Sounds like a ball.  ;)

Me too.  Not meaning to hijack, but here is one more (notice what I believe is a church in the pic)...These are pics of "Cades Cove" in Gatlinburg, TN:

Yes, very nice TN.

Not too familiar with mid so figured main sites like NY, FL, Cali where I know there would be plenty to do and see.

Think Poconos in PA would be great choice!
Check out Camelbackresort.com.

They have huge suites with separate bedrooms. Sleeps 8 to 12. For a weekend in August it would be about $250-300 for two nights, per person. Includes daily waterpark admission. So we can get wet all weekend.  ;)

Has a huge indoor waterpark, laser tag, golf, arcade. We could live it up like MLCers!!!

Also skiing, ziplining and spas for the more refined. Lol.
