  • Don't believe everything you think.
I bet you are all thanking me for putting that song in your head, huh?

Anyway, I thought it would be nice to have a thread to catalog all the things we are doing for ourselves (and maybe our stand).
This thread should be a MLC'er free zone, so no talk about them, m'Kay? ;)

Today, I have done more work in my garden and planted a few more vegetables.
Did a bit of sunbathing (boring).
This morning, I helped my neighbour with a few issues she's having.
Tonight I had dinner with my D17 and her boyfriend in the garden and it was rather nice, we looked at our old family pictures.

OK, not much done today but not a bad day all together. My garden is looking good considering I'm doing it alone with very little money.

Not a lot but I took time for myself today and took time to relax.

Oooh like this.

I have jogged around my field again twice, started day before yesterday to try and get a bit fitter.

Bought an anniversary gift for inlaws.

Went and got tap connector for the hose pipe so I can get warm water through the hose to wash the dog, whilst the weather is nice, he is getting on in age so didnt want to use cold water and he is very big so doesnt fit anywhere else for a wash lol.

Sorted for car to go to garage also as it is coughing, dont know what is wrong with it, hope it isnt expensive.

Relaxing now, before bedtime.

When you are alone and retired, the things you tend to do are not all that exiting.  But hey, at least I got up off the Lay-Z-Boy and got a few things done.

I am in the process of getting my stuff and this house ready for eventual sale once the D is final and I know what my financial picture is going to be.  Along those lines, I began getting my clothes sorted and downsized.  I went through all my sweaters, sweatshirts, jeans, pullovers, shorts, t-shirts, etc and got rid of a ton of stuff.  These clothes are partly from two bedrooms upstairs which are now finished.  There is nothing in these two bedrooms except beds, dressers, and chests.  That furniture will all eventually be sold.

Then I went to the post office, went over to the Goodwill and dropped off 6 bags of clothes, and then went and filled the tank with gas.

It ain't much, but at least I accomplished something.

I took dogs for a walk, and a swim in the lake (its so hot for them here)  then I cut up some wood with the band saw ... first time I've used it. I chopped a tree down on Father's Day while H was out with Ds (he disapproved of course!) So today I took the branches and cut them up and stashed them in the log pile for next Winter!

Then I taught some piano, then went food shopping, picked up Ds, and sat with them singing and playing guitar!!

Yep I am proud of myself again!!

Yesterday I volunteered with 6 other work colleagues to help teach and play basketball with a group of 12 intellectually disabled kids. SO MUCH FUN.  Watching the odd ball mix of work colleagues, some of whom have trust issues, was almost as rewarding as helping the kids.  They are so ready with cuddles and kisses that it melted my heart. I highly recommend doing something like this for a dose of perspective.

Another colleague took a photo of me holding hands with one of the boys and laughing about something with him.  It's not often that we love photo's with ourselves in them, but I love this one.  It was a beautiful moment captured so well. I am going to get it printed, display it proudly and let it remind me to LIVE NOW.

After that, I cooked dinner for H and the kids and watched 'Parental Guidance' before sitting in front of the fire and reading.  Had an R talk with S10 who has had his little girlfriend for almost a year now.  Boy that was cute too.

Today, I am taking my kids and one of their friends to the aquatic centre and then out to watch D13's friend play football.  We will have dinner at the club rooms and soak up the club atmosphere while there.  Weather is atrocious so we will ignore that and hopefully laugh lots.
