Off-Topic Election thread # 5
OP: February 18, 2017, 07:01:30 PM
Heros Spouse Mission statement includes:

Not all community members share religious beliefs; this is a community for all Faiths; please be polite and respectful.

We make no judgments; all are welcome. This is a place of love and support, not a place to degrade and insult others—including your MLC spouse.
Though heavily influenced by Christianity, people of all Faiths are welcome.
Though most of us are heterosexual, we do not discriminate based on sexual orientation.

Thundaar, pull the other one. You were, in series, stereotyping and derogatory toward Muslims (there are Muslims posting here), immigrants (don't think you're of native descent, are you?), and gay/homosexuals (there are LGBT posters here).

You have said you do believe there are good people (though members of the above groups don't seem to fall easily into that category for you). I have come to understand, through the nonsense you have posted, that you are not one of the good people. I'm tapping out.

OSB, how tolerant you are of others views.  Glad youre the hero in at least your life but do not accuse me of bigotry for quoting facts.

Funny irony is that the Obama ban was in response to the terrorist activity in my college town.  I was there when it was going down.  Full circle.

Thundarr,

Could you explain to me how your religious freedom is threatened if say Rainbow and her partner go to the same church and register their civil union as marriage. They love each other, the same way you love woman, the same way I love a man. And God knows they are not immune from the same issues in their relationships as we are. They face and deal with betrayals, financial and personal responsibilities, child and pet care issues, etc the same was as we all do. So why can't they love and be called spouses, and get protection under the law the same way we do?

I would have not problem with that. As long as we preach and practice love and respect towards each other. I am not a Catholic, but I really like current Pope, such a wise and kind man. Please, pay attention to what he is saying.

Considering the Rainbow flag over White House, I felt happy for my LBTG friends, finally there was a statement that ensured that they will be treated equally, regardless of who they chose to love.

I think it is really a shame for all of us to spend these much time on hating, detesting, and demonizing each other. My ancestors survived the horrifying Genocide, they were singled out based on their race, I take things like this very seriously. It is literally a miracle, that I live today, I am honored to have two children and be the one who continues my ancestors' legacy. These acts  of Genocide have one thing in common hatred based on ungrounded fears and ignorance. Now Trump has been hating Mexicans, women, blacks, Muslims, Jews, etc. Aren't we fed up with this? There are swastikas drawn on the walls if Jewish Community Center in America of 21 century. It is abhorrent, and it comes from the chief strategist Benon. You know President's along rights and privileges also have responsibilities. It is President's responsibility to make sure that the rhetoric of hate and violence is not tolerated. Is our President up to this task. Most certainly no.

I understand how someone like you would feel Thundarr. With the election of Obama, many people felt insecure, because it was the first time that we had Black President. I understand it is not easy for many people in your community too. In fact, all of my in-laws would have had the same arguments like you.  Now with Trump they feel that they can just go back to status quo, or the way it was before. But guess what, there is no going back in the history. Only forward, even if the process meets temporary set backs.

Thundarr you're posting lies. There's no chaos in Sweden. My entire family is there, and it is still one of the top OECD countries (ahead of the US). You post these lies on Facebook also. Ignorant, clueless people buy into that stuff when it has been proven that people in Macedonia invent these false stories and have ads and each time gullible people like yourself click on them, they get paid.

Evas,

I cover Sweden as one of the countries, for my work. I read news from Sweden in search of work-related information every month. I can attest that Sweden has one of the top functioning institutions of Government. The policy making process is very smooth and orderly. In fact, I would not mind moving there with my children.

Karmir, stop the patronizing.  It's just sad.  To imply I felt "hopeless" because we had a black president is pure BS.  Take your "someone like you" comment and shove it.  You're the ignorant, intolerant one to even make such dismissive statements toward those who disagree with you.

People shouldn't have something they don't believe in shoved down their throats.  How would you feel if Trump shined a Confederate flag or a cross on the White House?  Don't bother to mention the differences, it would be a big middle finger to the other side.  Obama was all about exploiting anger and hatred to divide the country for his own gain.  He martyred criminals and vilified the police.  He alienated Christians while refusing to even name Islamic terrorists.  I despise him for what he did and not what he was.

On another note, have you guys given any thought by how your attacks on me might be scaring any who might agree from posting?  Name-calling, accusing and misrepresenting what I've said is something many would hope to avoid.  OP and I aren't afraid to speak up but you may well be bullying others into losing their voice on a topic they may be passionate about.  Are you okay with silencing other women or would you invite them to share their opinions in a respectful discussion?  Food for thought.
